I like the Pro Grip 699.

If your tossing the old ones simply cutting them off with a razor blade is the easiest. To install you need some kind of lubricant that will dry out. I like to use a little brake cleaner because it dries quicker than anything else I've tried. You can also use soapy water or hair spray.

+1 on the hair spray. I've used it since my bicycle days.

Best thing to use is compressed air to get the grips on and off. No lube needed, just put the air nozzle under the corner of the grip and pull them off.

+2 on the Pro-Grips. Usually used soapy water to remove/install. Allow to dry after install.

Hey I just bought a set of Ourys for my bike. By far the best grips around. I put them on everything else, but I was curious, did you have to cut the ends off for your bike or did you find open ended ones? The ones I got aren't open ended which would require me to cut them... Thanks

WD-40. Slides on like they're oiled (they are) and reacts with the rubber to form an adhesive layer much faster than other stuff dries.

Use WD40 and they will be sliding around for weeks. You will also find that they start to go a bit tacky eventually, but as soon as any water gets in from washing or a bit of rain, they will start sliding around again. I use Hairspray. It's just enough lube to slide them on and it dries quick and nice and tacky.

In 1/2 dozen motorcycle and dozens of bicycle grip sets I have never had that experience. They set fast and need to be cut off when the time comes. It is certainly possible that there are rubber compounds out there that don't work but none of the one's I've used.

Hair spray is best chemicly but it easily trumped by compressed air. Zip off, zip on, all done, ride away laughing at the hair spray which hasnt dried and the wd40 guy who crashed cuz the grips flew off.

(just kidding, I dont want anyone to crash)

Are those oury grips made for bicycles?

They make grips for everything. Bicycle grips are one inner diameter, motorcycle grips are different inner diameter left and right. WD-40 glues ourys on very well too. Their rubber works well with it.

If you use adhesive or anything like superglue protect your fairing paint!

Air pressure is the best way, you can drive by any mechanic shop and just ask for the air pressure blower they use, takes only few seconds, but if you have no alternative and afraid to ask, then hairspray...

Anyone that put Oury grips on they Hawk... Did you have to cut the ends off? I can't find open ended ones. I never owned anything with bar ends so I've never had this problem. Thanks.

If so the the best way is a sharpened pipe and hammer on a 2x4. Nice round cuts.

This...

1 foot section of 7/8 OD tube (or pipe), put it in a lathe, drill press if you have it.. spin it up and swipe it with a angle grinder or flap disk.. Otherwise run it past a grinder wheel by hand works as well.
