I picked up this '01 F4i for $1,000 the other day. It runs great, but it was selling so cheap, because there was no title. I had a cop friend of mine check the VIN and it came out clean. I get the bike back to my shop to work on her and I find the old owner's registration in the tail along with address and phone number. I call the guy up and he sent me a replacement title.

So, I put the bike on the stands yesterday and I started taking her apart for my "post-purchase" inspection that I always do. Well, the water pump is busted at the shaft, the oil pan leaks and the starter valve set is missing a few nuts. No big deal. With my discount at the parts store, it's about $180 for all the parts I need. I'll probably put another $100 in to her with a new air filter, plugs, oil, etc... Still not a bad find. Can't wait to ride her.
