Got a problem

Jumped on the old girl today for what I was hoping would be the last ride of the year and she didn't respond well at all. She sounds normal at idle and in neutral but when I put her in 1st and tried to move out, she was bogging down real bad and shuddering, almost like I was in 2nd or 3rd. I can move through the gears fine with the clutch in but I can't get her going smooth. I didn't see if this went away once I was up to speed, didn't want to push it. Any ideas on what a possible issue might be? 1998 with 24K, about 2K since the last oil change and never a problem until now. She sat for about 3 weeks since the last ride and everything was normal then. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Sounds like a leak in your petcock diaphragm .

checked the air box, was clean. Looked it over closer and noticed a fuel leak at the petcock. Another thread had somewhat similar symptoms and the suggestion was to check for a torn diaphragm at the petcock. I'll look into that in the spring and go from there. Time to put her away here anyway. Thanks though.

Best empty your tank if you intend to lay the bike before repairing it up otherwise the fuel will all dribble out.

Ill drain it this week. She's going into storage next weekend. Thanks Wicky.

It could be a bad fuel or a dirty filter and fuel system. Have it thoroughly drained and cleaned. Another this is to replace your plugs.
