got a check!
Just a little followup to the Shorai battery incident.
I spoke to the president of Shorai about this incident, and he acknowleged that there was a possibility of a manufacuring error in the battery that could have caused this issue (I am not going to elaborate on that here). Fortunately for everyone else, it would only show up within the first one or two uses--otherwise they are good. They are currently modifiying the batteries to have thicker spacers between the cell packs, for insulation, and also are strengthening the wire connection lugs on the top of the battery. These should be available the end of April.
Anyway, they cut me a check for the damage and labor, as well as subsquent batteries, which I received today. All in all, very upstanding to deal with. I was impressed!

They have been like this the whole way through, too. Seems to be a pretty small company at this point, so they are really trying to make it right. Gotta give 'em credit for that.
No specifics on the amount, but it was enough for a new stator, R/R, two batteries (with and upgrade to the 18 a/h), incidentals, and all of my labor at their rate (incidentally twice what I had quoted). Needless to say, I am very happy with their handling of the incident.
