A good way to tell if you need a new tire

So even though I knew that the metzler that was on when I bought the bike was getting pretty bad, I didn't want to stop riding til I got my new tires. They came today in the mail so the hawk is going up on the stands tonight and I'm gunna get them mounted tomorrow. When I threw my cover on after pulling in I noticed this....pretty scarry.

slid out quite a bit on the onramp on the way home from school... I checked the pressure two days ago and obviously it was bald but not showing threads or steel. The onramp was only a mile from school so I figured they were just a little cold, but when I pulled in and saw them I was like "Oooooooh my god"

Pretty excited to scrub in the new ones though. Anyone else running 2ct's??

The bike is going to handle 1000% differently once you get some fresh rubber on it.

I rode mine until the rear blew. Im not saying anyone else should do it.

I stayed close to home so when It blew I only had to go about 3 miles. I have to admit it was fun.

Warning: rode my supercorsa until it blew, chucked the bike in a trailer (no rear stand) and took it home where it sat for a week while i waited for a new tyre. This bent my side stand! Seriously, whether it was from the trailer (i dont think so) or sitting on the wrong angle i was rather shocked.

once you find out your rear tire is bad, what do you do with it?

I think you should bring them to a tire place and ask for your money back.

I am running 2CT's on my street hawk. I like them a lot. I went out just to scrubb them in a little after mounting them and came back with no chicken strips. I was surprised how comfortable I was on them right off the back. I ran a track day on them last year. They preformed great.

That's why you are never supposed to tie down a motorcycle against the side stand!

When I see cords, that's when I start thinking about ordering a tire.
