GOOD NEWS!
My 2000 Superhawk was stolen about two months ago. Having only liability on it, I have had a pretty depressing couple of months!
Anyways, a cop called me earlier today and said they had recovered it! I went and picked it up and only a few things are messed up. The ignition is broken, the gas cap is broken, and the mirror is broken with a few scratches because they dropped it on both sides.
Anways, I have a few questions for you guys. Is there a more secure way to repair the ignition than just buying a new ignition? Also, do you know anywhere cheap to get a new gas cap? Thanks alot and hopefully I see you all on the road again!

Just hit up eBay for a lock set, that way you'll have one ket that works for all f the locks. There are a lot of different Honda models that might use the same lock set as your VTR. FYI, 2001 and up VTR lock set will not work with your bike as the ignition is different

Hmm, well Ron Ayers didn't cross reference the VTR part number with anything else. But this ebay listing has a cross reference, no guarantee it's right though.

That's why I used the qualifiers; might, maybe, etc. I've got to cover my a$$ when making these wild claims. My list is from memory, but I'm sure it's more accurate than cross referencing numbers at Ron Ayers though. An ignition will have a different part number if the wires coming off of it are a diffferent length than a simillar ignition. But, we all know that.

I have a lock set...PM sent. That's awesome! I remember when my buddy had his zx7 stolen and the police recovered it a few weeks later. It was banged up (even had blood inside the fairing HAHAHAHA) but it was cheaper to fix than to replace altogether had he never seen it again.

Congrats on the recovery. A friend of mine had his RC51 stolen. The insurance paid for it as they couldn't recover it. 3 years later he gets a call from a sheriff in Florida asking if he owned a RC51. Said not anymore, stolen. THey found it involved in a car vs. bike accident. Trashed beyond recognition. Plus the rider lost his foot...
