GOOD INSURANCE DEALS

When I was buying my VTR (3 weeks ago) I was quoted crazy Insurance rates! Up to $4,300 ...how stupid is that?

Anyways, ended up with State Farm, under $1,000 for the year! OK, so I'm 74 years old with 50 years clean riding...LOL - just joking - but the rate sounds real good...

Just FYI if anyone's in need....

State Farm was cheapest for me, under $500/yr

it depends on where you are and your stats. (mostly where)

Allstate has just started a new program. I am paying around $430 a year for liability and comprehensive. I don't really need full coverage on a bike worth only $2000.

I was with Progressive prior to buying the SH. I called before buying to get a quote on the SH as well as a CBR600 and a ZX6r. All were quoted at the same $500/yr for full coverage.

I buy the SH and call back.. They say, "that'll be $650 please". I tell them about my previous quote and they say that they made a mistake, they thought I asked for a quote for a VTX, I say "bullshit" but whatever. I then clarify a rate of $650/yr and they say "oh no, that's $650 for the remainder of the year, your yearly rate will be $2250". I switched to State Farm that day and I pay less than $500/yr for full coverage even though all my other insurance goes through USAA.

Wow !
I always wondered what the average Ins rate is in the U.S. , and its affordable !
and most of you guys ride all year round ..
I'm paying $685/yr. with AllState 27 yrs licenced & clean record - BUT Im lucky if I get 7 months of riding ... due to the white stuff. I'm forced to put the VTR away for 5 months..
shopping for Insurance here in Ontario it can range from $700 to $2000.00 per yr. !

here is an example > If you are a new rider under 25 yrs. of age with a 600 ... goodluck finding a company that will insure you .. Ins Co.'s will quote extremely high $3500 to deter you away ..
so what happens the young guys will ride without Ins. .. ahh to be that naive "oh nothing will happen to me I'm invincible" ...
we are hoping to see this changing in the future with a the Ministry implementing a new format of getting your plate/sticker you have to have proof of insurance that is actually networked through the system ... ex: so if the Police punch in your plate number it will automatically show if the rider has valid insurance .

Progressive doesn't underwrite policies in Canada AFAIK.

In Ontario insurance rates are outrageous, almost oppressive.

The best rate I ever had on the 'Storm was $765 from Primmum.

That is for 2 million PLPD and Accident Benefits. No Collision. No Comprehensive.

56 YO rider. Male. Married. No Claims. No moving violations. 40+ years riding experience.

Good Luck

I live in the states, and I pay about $450 a year for 5 bikes. 1)Victory Vegas (1600cc) 2)Buell XB12Ss (1200cc) 3) CBR1000 4) DRZ400 5) XR250L

I remember about 5 or 6 years ago getting into an insurance thing with a guy up in Canada, and was telling me that there was some legislation that was trying to ban sport bikes over 500cc's. It didn't pass I guess... but they made the registration and insurance crazy high to keep people from buying them.

NUTZ!!

Wow, the rates in Canada are crazy!

I'm 22, with a "not so great record," and I pay about $220 a year for my 'Hawk with State Farm - liability, 250/500K coverage. Very reasonable I'd say!

Just curious - why all the "full coverage" on a bike worth a few grand? Loans? Worried about theft?
In upstate NY my liability with 300/500 is $68 - for the whole year

some of you guys get some great rates. my car insurance comp wanted 8 grand for a 600 cc ss bike, hah, so i shopped around, went with statefarm, 2 accidents that dont affect it, no other tickets, i just turned 29 and have been riding since august, 120 a month for liability for the hawk although even with a multicar discount and a discount on the bike statefarm still cant match my price using then for the bike and my other comp for both cars.

I wanted uninsured / underinsured motorists, towing, roadside assistance and enough coverage to cover anything i damage or any damage that happens to me.

another canadian here:
state farm
$400something for hawk, no collision
$600something for full coverage on 1098

years ago, when i was young & dumb, i paid $208 a year on my gixxer750 with primmum. the following year it went up to $240. i called and told them they were crazy! hahahahahahah

we canadians get screwed on everything. it absolutely crazy how badly we are gouged.
btw, screwge = screw + gouge.

speaking of insurance specifically, canadians are always going on and on about how americans are sueing(sp?) all the time. why the fock are their rates 1/5th what ours are?????

Here's another wierd thing about Canadian insurance...your credit rating gets taken into consideration (for sure on house insurance - not sue about vehicles?).

I know rates are great (cheaper) in the UK, but with gas at $10 a gallon you need all the breaks that you can.....LOL
