Isn't that where joe arpio is sheriff? Buck-forty is tent incarceration and pink undies if he gets you. Grins at your demonstrations of having cajones in any case.

Sounds like a bunch of hoopla... where exactly in Phoenix are the roads "great"? You should probably take your "140mph" to the drag strip so that you're not needlessly endangering someone else's life while performing your squidly duties.

Dude i agree, was out that way in the spring for the first time and all i saw was flat land except a quick trip two hours north to the mountains.

It would be a PAIN to ride a sport bike in Phoenix, i would have to upgrade to a cruiser there.

140 mph on an isolated interstate somewhere isn't a big deal, but 140 in traffic is stupid. That mixed with the comment about the great roads in phoenix makes this post a little suspicious.

Meh, 140mph gauges = ~125mph real life . It's not like the guy has a licence to get taken from him anyway!

And I LOVE the roads in Phoenix... A perfectly planned very large acreage grid of stoplights and very old people in very large vehicles. It's like playing frogger in a giant hair dryer...

Exactly. I hit about 140 on the gauge out in the middle of the desert and my gps said precisely 122. She was still pulling strong but the wind kicked up and scared me so I backed off.

I did this once recently on an airfield, just installed my new vapor gauge and it had very accurate MPH readings. I wasn’t able to pull past 130, though, with stock gearing. The wind was just too much (naked). I put back on my racing gearing so we’ll see how that does tonight at the drag strip.

I did a GPS indicated 137 on the back stretch at the track and the bike still had more to give. I'm guessing a GPS 150 is very reasonable to do. Just don't do it on the street so we don't have to give you crap about it.

To all that posted squid comments, you guys are all hipocrites. Riding a motorcycle in general is reckless and "needlessly endangers" other peoples lives regardless of your speed. As any street rider knows, even if you follow all the traffic rules people still pull in front of you, cut you off, etc. Indie, that pic you posted could easily been the result of someone on a cellphone pulling in front of a rule abiding rider. Hell, here in Texas one of the nations best brain surgeons was killed on his bike by a drunk driver, and we know damn well he wasn't doing anything reckless other than accepting the danger of riding a motorcycle.

I'm willing to bet you Angels don't do 5mph over the speed limit either, because then you would be breaking the rules and "endangering the whole worlds lives." Gimme a ****** break. Doing 5 mph over the speed limit and doing 140mph is equally as dangerous for the sole fact that motorcycles are dangerous to begin with.

Rant over, I'm not gonna argue this point anymore.

Almost everyone speeds, cagers included. Prius drivers are the worst.

What I don't do is:

90+ mph on the freeway (I go fast enough to stay in the #1 lane, but I pull over if a driver is bearing down on me).

Wheelie through town, or on the freeway.

Drag knee in the twisties (okay, I'm not that skilled, or truthfully I just don't like pain. I go fast though, <1/4" chicken strips).

Pass cars on the double yellow with cars going the opposite direction.

Pass in corners.

Pass on the right.

Multiple lane changes, cutting in and out of traffic (I do lane split, which is legal in CA).

To me those are some, but not all, of the moves that qualify one as a squid.

Ah hahahahaha oh man that's the comment of the day right there. That car brought a whole new driver to the world. Gunning it hard and getting maybe 40mpg, but it's OK because it's a hybrid. Takes two motors and batteries that have already traveled the world just in manufacturing. Japs are laughing their heads off at us on that one...

End tangent. I was just tailed hard by a Prius today so that one made my night...

A few years ago I'm riding to work in the carpool lane, doing 80. A Prius comes up behind me and tailgates for a moment before going around me doing at least 90. Young female driver. It was one of the new unlimited access carpool lanes we now have here in CA.

They blow past me on surface streets all the time.

i got my gauges to read just over 160 (i try to focus on the roade not the guages) ....

no speedohealer and 15-43 gearing so I was probably only doing like 130...

In my opinion CRSIGI your not a squid... we all do it on occasion... why else are we on this forum day in and day out trying to make our superchickens perform better and have more power?

however I try not to do it in traffic, but thats just me

Damn. I do all this, except wheelie. I'm too fat to wheelie.
