Fuel economy

Fuel economy
Well its the first time it happen to me... After installing my T-REX frame slider at my buddy garage I was comming back home when the fuel light went on at about 85 miles!!! I said to myself that my first SuperHawk were douing about 110 before the reserve. So I continued thinking it could be a false gage. (I was not driving verry hard that day... Not faster than 80mi/h) After 25mi later bang! the bike stalled on the interstate .
I would like to know what could cause that? Like I said before with my first Superhawk I was getting better gaz millage!!! Same bike same year same modification (I bought back the bike I sold 7 years ago...) I was thinking changing the Sparkplug and the air filter to get better efficiency?

Not sure if everyone would agree with me but I think that is fairly average. 80 to 90 before the light is about what I usually get with a timid riding style. Sometimes it's quite a bit less. 110 would be a shocker to me.

I guess its my memory . I just sold my 2002 Vfr800 that I was able to get more than 200 mi before the light could come on... I guess I will need to adjust myself to the new 80 mi ride before fuelling ... Because its always a pain begging for a lift to the gaz station...
Thanks!
Thanks!

I do a 120 mile round trip commute to work on one tank of gas and I dont get the RLOD (red light of death) unless I flog the **** out of it on the freeway. Normal ride is around 75-85 MPH the whole time and i arrive home with 1 bar on the digital gas gauge.

I regularly get 120-125 before RLOD. New air filter last spring, Jardine slip-ons, fresh plugs, stock gearing and jetting. Maybe some of the guys that do track days could chime in. Also, you could be getting **** fuel. Where do you live htwin? Could this new hawk not like high elevation?

My mileage will vary greatly depending on riding. If I'm doing consistent highway riding I can get up to 45 mpg. On the twisties, at high elevation, anything erratic, the economy drops way down, even low 30s.

I usually start looking for gas when my mileage hits 100, as my light comes on at roughly 105-115 and I would say I get about 130-140 out of a tank. But I have never ran it completley out so that's a guess. And I'm running stock gearing & Erion slip-ons.

Hi all if i rip the **** out of my bike i get about 80 miles before the light comes on .Yesterday i was skint and only had £5 ,day before payday and all that anyway £5 is about a gallon in the UK i had some stuff to do that had to be done so off i went half expecting to run out of petrol.I did not take it over 3000 rpm most of my day was about town and i got back home with some petrol still in the tank and total miles was 48.4.how,s that for economy. So if you were to ride like that all day you could get 150 miles more or less out of a tank.Would be boaring as **** but you still get there in the end.But you dont run a vtr to drive it like that

Don't have a gauge installed but I get 3 36-mile round trips to work and usually have .5 to .7 left when I fill up. Works out to low-mid 30s. That's with squidly freeway entrances and a 2-3 mile hill and no fairings. Still doubles my pickup's mileage.

I live in Quebec Canada. Its should be close to the sea elevation. Maybe its time for a new air filter / spark plug set-up?
