front brake MC swap

I read someplace recently that the Hawk/Storm has a 14mm diameter piston in the front brake MC compared to 19mm for the 929 and 17mm for the 954 (don't know about the RC).

Given the above info, which replacement MC would be preferable? I would assume that the 929 set-up would yield the greatest increase in braking force. I have to wonder though why Honda reduced the diameter on the 954 (for "better feel"?)

Any help/input would be appreciated (especially from someone who has switched to either of the above units).

cheers
Mikstr

When I upgraded to 6 pot calipers and my master I had to rebuild the master. When I ordered it I got one for a 954 instead of the 929 I needed. When I took it back I asked the guy why the 929 was larger the the 954. The answer they gave was due to the 954 having radial brakes, whick I don't even know if they do.

But I like my 929 master.

I thought there were only two sizes, VTR or 929,954, RC. For some reason 14 vs 18 comes to mind.

But I'd spend the other $40 bucks to swap the entire system. Balance in all things braking, I say.

Goes to show what most dealers know. The 954 does NOT have radial mount brakes.

Thats what I was thinking but I do know the 954 I rebuild kit I ordered first would drop down the bore of the master. Ordered the 929 rebuild and was perfect.
