The Flashlight Thread

I have a ridiculous fetish with flashlights, I can't get enough! little ones, big ones, cheap ones, and nice ones.
I just bought this from Costco.com, seems like a great deal for what you get.

Hot Buy 2-pack Life+Gear 360 Lumens LED Law Enforcement Grade Water Proof Flashlights - Item# 415635

So what does everyone else have?

I use flashlights daily in my work. I use nothing but Streamlight. The Stinger and the Stinger LED are the two i use the most. My headlight is also a Streamlight.

My original Stinger is over 8 years old with the same battery and bulb since new. I ussually charge it once a week.

shizzy, I thought your fetish was with chickens.

I use old fashioned Mag Lights. 5 cell, which is also good for self defense, and mini.

I have a stinger led and I have had nothing but problems with it. I've had it for a year or so and have sent it back to streamlight 8 times now. The last time, 2 weeks ago, i got it back and it worked for 3 days. So this time i emailed customer service and basicly this light was the biggest piece of junk and that i was sick of it not working. They emailed me a return ups shipping label and told me to send it back and they would sent me a new one. So hopefully I will get rid of the lemon.

Sorry for the rant, just this flashlight has really pissed me off for the money i spent on it. On a good note when it works it is a damn good light.

Sorry to hear about that. All of the aircraft mechanics here in San Antonio use the Streamlights and no one here has ever had a problem with them. I recently dropped my LED from the top of the tail engine on the DC-10 to the ground (about 40 ft) and it still works. Just my $.02.

If you have a fetish for lights, head over to www.candlepowerforums.com

BTW you can pick up the Stanley HID flashlight at Wal-Mart for like $60.

DEFTReview2015.jpg?t=1249612762

The Stanley is the crazy looking one in the lower middle that is yellow and black. Looks like something out of Buck Rodgers.

I still use mine everyday in the shop. Come to think of it, I've had that thing for over 20 years and I've only had to replace the battery once.

LED Maglite, 3 DD battery version.

i also brought back from China 10 single LED 3AA battery flashlights...

the little things are great, even though its from China, its great. its about 3/4 " think so its small enuf to carry on me, the Maglite is for the heavy duty stuff...they cost like 3 bucks and are made of extruded aluminium just like Maglites

hey K-D who do you work for that still has DC-10's? i do line maintenance at YYZ for FedEx on their MD-10's and MD-11's

I work for FedEx as a Sr. AMT here at SAT. Yep, no more DC-10's. Just every time i say MD-10 to someone that knows something about airplanes, i have to explain the whole process of why they are now a MD-10 and not DC-10.

In fact my MD-10 and Airbus A300-600 just left about a half hour ago.

All my flashlights have weapons attached behind them as well. I am looking forward to upgrading to an LED incapacitator.

Check it out. http://www.ledsmagazine.com/news/4/8/8

Check this company out. They make great flashlights, but their storage and transport systems are simply amazing! Think the trunks from 'Joe versus Volcano'.....lol

I have a Pelican 7060 LED (the LAPD's new flashlight). Great for distance, but too damn bright for closeup work. Also have a Streamlight Scorpion that's been on my belt for a couple years now. The flashlight I've been coveting though is the Fenix LD20. 180 lumen LED that has different power settings so you can use it on a low setting for closeup work. Or go full power for long range stuff. You can get it with 2 AA batteries, so there isn't any downtime while it recharges. A compact design too. http://www.fenixgear.com/store/viewI...g/img/ld20.jpg

What a small world....we probably worked on the same birds at some point.

Here in canada we're called AME's although i dont have my licence yet as i have to go through 4 years of apprenticeship after 2 years of college...sucks but oh well...

i miss the Airbuses, i have the Fam course from Fedex on one and although i spend all my time on MD's now, i miss the Airbus. Due to economy FedEx cut off our 3rd morning flight which was the A300.
