Talking First wheelie!!!!

I did my first intentional power wheelie today!!!! I just put it to 5k in first and cracked the throttle and Bam!!! The front end came up and I made sure to cover that back brake tho. It was a thrill. Did it on a straight away on a dead end road. It was awesome!!! Have not tried dumping the clutch in second yet or shifting from first to second while im on just the back tire yet. Just taking baby steps and enjoying the bike. Just letting you guys know that this bike get even more fun to ride each time I get on it. Hope you guys are enjoying your Hawk as much as I am!!!

Thats awesome bro. The superhawk is a blast to ride. You have the right idea with the baby steps on getting the front wheel up. Be carefull. Your right about how great it feels to get that front wheel up the first time.... Totally cool...

Try a little clutch in first - way more controlled. Power wheelies are a little more out of control...... of course opinions are like you know what, everyone has one...... that's just my take on it. Your results may vary!

IMO it is easier and safer to power wheelie from 5 to 6 k since the bike runs out of steam before you can make a mess of things. Oh by the way fwiw the superhawk can still do a full on standup power wheelie with a 20 lb tank bag .

Lots of fun, but watch out for the cops, they usually don't have much of an appreciation for a well exucuted wheelie, and a ticket for careless or reckless driving can ruin your day. Don't ask......

Yea I am just doing power wheelies for now. Have not got the clutch wheelies down yet, tried and got frusterated so I slowed down and romped on it in first and then my smile came back. Oh is it bad when all I wanted to do was do wheelies all day. Just had the urge but didnt do It cause there were no dead ends long enough. Although I did do one down my buddies road and managed to ride it about 20 feet. that made me smile.

Once you get more comfortable with the wheelies wait until you get some 2nd and 3rd gear stand ups 2nd gear bounces right up really easy and from what my 220 plus lbs brother says 3rd bounces right up a hwy speed with stock gearing.

Oh and trust me about getting busted by cops doing wheelies they don't usually like them. I managed to talk my way out of some big trouble for being young and dumb in a school zone and ended with a 45 in a 35 ticket.

Yea I know what you mean. was getting ready to pop one up yesterday til I saw the cop and slowed down and parked the bike in a parking stall in the empty parking lot I was practicin in. Any suggestions on tecnique for doing wheelies with the clutch. Keeping in mind that I still have a good clutch.

Just go slow ... in first , about 2-4k rpms , then dump the clutch and pop it at about 6k to get the gist of things . After you start getting the feel of your wheelie tool .. try slowly moving up the rpm's at the pop. The front tire gets higher in time ... go slow

Takes some time ... but the clutch is your tool of choice here ... learn to finess it.

lol I wouldnt do that!
not unless u like chasin ur bike a few feet just to pick it up
get a feel for it when u dump the clutch, ur engine is already runnin decent rpm's to get u started up, then roll on the throttle to keep it up

LOL ... NO Cracker ... You do that and you will go end over !

You can do this in first or second gear , I recomend starting these attempts in second. Roll at about 2-4k rpms ... dump the clutch ... Keep the throttle constant ... then pop the clutch. You will need to practice this a few times but you will notice the wheel getting higher as you raise the rpm's when you pop the clutch.

If you ever feel like you are going over ... pull the clutch and you will come back down.

YeaH, same here. I live down a 2 lane road with a mile long section called the "roller coaster" it is a big down hill followed by a hard left 3 small steep hills, another hard left, 3 big steep hills followed by downhill, tight decreasing radius right and then another left. Its the most fun I have ever had in less than a mile! Every hill is an easy power wheelie and nice clean corners ( usually without any gravel ) Wheelies are fun, be careful.
