First speeding ticket on the hawk

It's been a while since I lasted posted(just bought or first home and have been busy with projects) so I thought I would share my story. Thought I would get out of town the other night a cruise to Payson to enjoy the cooler temps. On my way back down the b-line between the bush highway and fountain hills dps got me. He got me at 86 in a posted 65. He told me since I could not remember the last time I got a ticket he would knock it down to 74 so it was not a criminal speed so I could take a class for it.

I was more than happy to take the ticket, as he was filling out the ticket I could not stop laughing in my head. Just three minutes before he nabbed me I had hit the top speed for me on the bike, 148 indicated(no speedo healer). I figured if he would have got me at that speed I probably would have been hand cuffed, probably tazed, arrested and the bike impounded. Got really lucky. He was a really cool cop after I signed the ticket I got off the bike and he just walked around it with his flashlight and telling me he could not believe the bike was a 98. We carried n for a while then I took off to go home as it was a little past 1 am and I needed to go to work the next morning.

Ended up pickIng up a radar detector the next day, been testing in the truck and gonna figure out getting mounted on the bike.

you can buy bike radar detectors

no point mounting an in car one on a bike it wont be waterproof and the buttons/interface wont be designed for use by someone with bike gloves on

radar detectors aint worth a **** anyway, by the time they detect the speed gun and thats IF they detect it, it will already have got you, those guns can read your speed from over a mile away no problem

yeah i know what you mean i enjoy it myself, i just take a good look around first and watch for any cops when im doing it. and obviously dont do it in areas where there are likely or known to be cops.

seems as effective as any radar detector since i have a clean licence (you get points on your licence for speeding over here, get 12 points and bye bye licence)

I was pretty good at seeing them as well. My spidey sense was telling me to slow down. This guy was on the right side of the road, facing me. It was completely dark in the middle of the desert then his lights came on about a half a mile away when he got me..i didnt even know they could do that.

At least the cop was cool about it. The last time I got a ticket on the bike, they had been chasing me for two miles. It was two sheriff's in chargers and they were pushing it to catch me. I was following a buddy but was going slower due to the conditions. When I realized my buddy was hauling *** and not stopping I figured I would catch him at the stop sign a couple miles away and I slowed up. He blew that sign and right about that time a sheriff pulled up next to me (I'm guessing I was doing about 60 at that point). I never looked back to see them since I was speeding and was watching what was in front of me. He wasn't too nice at the time... After they realized I could have ran off and left them if I knew they were there, and I was older and not some kid, they cooled off and took it easy on the ticket.

I probably could have ran and got away, but I don't like to think about putting someone else's life at risk because of my stupidity. They just want to get home to their families too.
