Speeding Tickets

I've had a lead foot in a car for some time, and now that Im back on a faster bike I seem to have a heavy wrist. This bike just dont seem to like going 70. It feels like it is boggin down. Cruisin at 90 or 100 seems more like it. Here in lies the problem. I got a ticket (trophy) while "cruizin" to work yesterday. 100 in a 70mph zone. There was almost no cars on the road at all. The state trooper only gave me speeding, not reckless driving or anything else. Then he proceded to tell me he use to be a rider before he had a wife and kids, but still wouldn't give me a break. After that he kept askin more and more about the bike, like he wanted to buy it or sumthin. .... What was anyone else's worst ticket? This wasn't my worst, just my first in 3 years. My worst was in my Protege5. It was 117mph on a lonesome two lane with a civic hot on my trail. Both of us were sick to have to pay $275 bucks for that. But you cant outrun a radio.

That was a cheep ticket.

81 in a 65 cost me $363.

Hate to think what 100 in a 65 would have been in $$$$

going 30mph over the speed limit is wreckless driving and is an immediate arrest in the great state of Georgia.

Speeding tickets are a (*******) scam. The penalties and fines continue to get more severe, all ostensibly in the name of making our roads safer, which is a lie. It's just a way to get more people into the system and to justify surveillance cameras, speeding cameras and other incremental but inexorable assaults on our liberties while simultaneously making government our lord and master.

I agree to a certain extent. Some people drive like ********, and thats when you should get a ticket/be locked up. but yes, there is a net widening effect on 'the system', and I think being able to put people on probation for traffic offenses is complete bullshit. traffic cameras are a revenue scam, and they **** me off. but to be able to be put into the system for violating traffic codes is nonsense....youre taking a simple offense and making it a criminal offense....just another way to let the big business of probation widen their 'net of criminality'

Many of the tickets I've gotten over the years were deserved. Hard to fault the cop when you're doing >100 in a 35. Still, I did get the pleasure of getting the judge to throw out a bogus ticket and read the riot act to a cop and prosecutor who were running a ticket scam.

As much as I like running WFO on the highway, the idea of trying a "track" day sounds like a better deal than the higher insurance. At least if I low side in a turn at a track I'll walk away with some bruises and a war story as apposed to eating a tree or a parked Buick.

You guys are kind of lucky. I have never gotten a ticket and due to Florida's new crack head laws. They just raised all the fines here. If a cop catches you doing a wheelie it is a $1,000 fine. If you do it 3 times you get arrested.

Ridiculous stuff. I think I may have to move.

Reckless drivin can be put on any speeding ticket in TN, but it is at the officers descretion to do so. (sorry bout the spelling)

Was riding around today on the highway and got pulled over. When I merged I forgot to look to see who would be behind me. She watched as I hit it prety hard and started pushing other traffic in the left lane to move over. Took a minute for me to notice the trooper car right behind me.
After running my record and asking me a few questions, she wrote me a warning for 62 in a 55. Told me she understood what I was doing since she owned a Suzuki herself, but that she didn't want to get called out to an accident.
As I was about to walk back to the bike, I asked her what she really clocked me doing. She gave me a look and said 105.
One hell of a gift, I'll take it.

Sorry, no number. To be honest, I was just trying to get out of there before she changed her mind.

Well her badge number maybe on the warning, or does that only happen on a ticket?

got 1 speeding ticket probably 3 or 4 years ago. i was driving my girlfriends rental car with he in the passenger seat. i was was pissed off that she made such a stink about wanting to run home and "get ready" to go out for breakfast with friends. the long of the short of it is that i got bagged doing 87 in a 65 IN A GODDAMN DAEWOO. i didnt even know they went that fast. nothing hurts your male ego more than getting nabbed for speeding in a beige econobox.

...Needless to say i look foward to getting pulled over on the bike...at least there will be some redemption in that (but not really)
