More, more, more...I saw it in person at Daytona, and wow. Looks about the size of a 250, and I'm standing there reminding myself it's a 1100. Yea, I want one. But does it ride as good as it looks??? Details please.

It was a bike that you pretty much dream of. One that has the power of a superbike but the weight of a dirt bike. I felt like i could put it where ever i wanted, it was so light and powerful. i dragged knee a few times but was scared to thrash too much. And it does wheelies like there's no problem at all, A complete rook could feel safe doing one. So when i got back to the dealership with a giant *** grin on my face i wondered how much for the hawk and when i could get one. Bottom line, it's so so so tempting but i'll wait for a while, see if a can't get one cheaper a little later on. But if anyone gets a chance to ride one, do it!

Run it down the highway at 75-80mph for about 100 miles and tells how it feels then. IMO, motards are a niche bike that are great if you have a stable of bikes but not as your only ride. YMMV.

It's a beautiful bike with gorgeous lines.

I looked at it online today, and I might have to find a dealer to go see it in person. Looks like a blast! (no, not a buell)

IMO it's the most beautiful mass-produced bike ever!!!!! Not sure if it would be the most practical bike, especially if you can only have one, but it would sure make a worthy addition to a multi-bike garage

With a 3.3 gallon gas tank I wonder if it will go 100 miles. It looks like the "funnest" bike I have ever seen, but I have to agree that it's impractical, even among sportbikes, which are fairly impractical as a group.

Well the freeway was a different story. It for sure needs a steering damper. When i was accelerating on the onramp, the front end was really really wobbly. But it doesn't matter, nothing can stop true love

i think it is kind of funny to read this comment on a super hawk forum. i cant imagine getting worse gas milage than our bikes do. the bike is a v-twin, not a single like other motards. it is lighter than our bikes, and much more powerful. only bad thing would be a lack of wind protection. i love those bikes though. pure sex if you ask me.

SuperBling jetted, piped, and geared delivered 34mpg in the twisties.

The oct '06 edition of cycle world did a group test of "hooligan" bikes (which I think we can all agree the VTR would be grouped with if tested) and here are some of the mpg figures they obtained:

kawi z1000 34.7
yami fz1 35.8
suzuki sv1000 37.9
bmw k1200r 33.2
ktm 950sm 33.5
triumph speed triple 33.2
aprilia tuono 33.1
ducati s4s 30.4
MV Agusta 910r 25.1

even then, i get right at a 100 miles before the light comes on. i always fill up at that point. not worth the risk. i ran out of fuel once on my 97 tls, and the chain reaction that ensued was out of control. i should write a book. if it werent for the gas mileage, i would never consider another bike unless my vtr died. however, i want something that i can get close to 200 miles on a tank. that will have to wait though, getting ready to have my first child in aug. until then i will just have to keep the vtr. twist my arm though, cause i do love that bike.

If you want 200 miles per tank, get an Interceptor. I'm lucky enough to have both. FWIW my 'Hawk got 47 mpg on a casual ride from Idylwild CA (6000 ft.)to Palm Springs and back. (108 miles) ...and the carbs were out of sync. My XX got 32 mpg but no one ever bitches about the mileage on that bike. Mileage goes all to hell over 160...

I wasn't comparing the Hypermotard to the Hawk, but you're wrong about the 'motard being more powerful than the Super Hawk. It has a larger engine, and probably more torque, but less horsepower (its rated at 90 hp) with its old school two valve air cooled engine.
It's a different beast, and a sexy one at that, but it's not a practical conveyance. That's all I was saying.
