Don't know what it is Called

Hey everyone,

So here is the story. This summer I rode out to Newfoundland on a three week trip where I ended up totaling my VFR. When I got back to Ontario I came across a sweet deal and bought my Firestorm. The previous owner did the bike up a bit to match his Porsche. He sold the car and decided to sell the bike. Low mileage,Yoshi pipes, new fairings, seat, and a lowering link.

My question is with the lowering link it to low even raised to the max. Now what is the OEM part name so I can replace it.

Thanks. Here are a few pics of my new ride. Puig windscreen, lockhart flushmounts, rear seat cowl and resiviour socks should be arriving next week.

Greetings Bill

Try here to find what you need

Ronayers.com Microfiche Honda>Motorcycle>1999>VTR1000F>REAR SHOCK ABSORBER

After the cosmetic mods, if you haven't thought about replacing the automatic CCTs with manuals and the R/R with an upgraded one, then add them to your priority shopping list.

While you've got the rear end apart grease all the linkage bearings up as they have a habit of seizing.

P.S. Which hand do you wipe with now??

There was someone on here looking for a lowering link... if I remember who I'll let you know. Or you could just sell it on the site. There are a few troopers on here who want to lower their hawk despite the friendly but harsh opposition.

You can even shim your shock with a couple of washers once you put the stock linkage in to raise the rear a tad and increase turn-in.

+1 on the CCT and r/r.

Hey thanks for the input. I understand that a CCT is cam chain tenisioner but what is R/R mean. Also holy crap I had no idea about the linkage splitting like that, something I will definitely look into.

As far as wiping my *** I don't. Just drag my **** across the front lawn lol

I will. Its not going to be replaced any time soon. Most likely a late winter early spring project cause the bike is stored now for the winter.

So after reading pages and pages and pages on the R/R I will be getting one for sure over the winter months. As far as the CCT goes before I order them from APE the just have to clarify.

Honda VTR 1000f Firestorm is the same as the SuperHawk as far as this part is concerned. The part number I am looking at is HT1000VTR (use gasket #EC388). Is this correct.

yes, firestorm is exactly the same as superhawk, only the name is different between them.
Except for the years 97 to 2000 than there is 2001 to 2005.the newer ones has digital dash and some slight changes.

California model is the only exception, they have extra stuff for emissions.

Just a FYI SuperHawk and FireStorm are basically interchangeable names for the same bike (SuperHawk in North America, FireStorm everywhere else & also Canada, I believe)

As long as it is listed as a VTR1000f you are good

Also we do have a couple of list members that also manufacture a manual CCT for a lower price than the A.P.E. 's
