Deal's Gap picture compilation video
Deal's Gap picture compilation video
Since we are talking about a Deal's Gap trip next spring, I thought I'd share this with you.
In the dead of last winter, I asked Darryl if he would mind if I used pics from his weekly Killboy update to compile a "music video". He did not object since all the stuff I would be using was already in the public domain anyways, and what I did use from his front page would have his "Killboy" logo on it.
So, I collected many pictures and created a music DVD.
I had to convert it to Windows Media Format to put it on Google, and it really diminished the picture quality.
Watching it on a big screen Tv with stereo pumping is MUCH more enjoyable!
Be that as it may, here is the link:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...q=deal%27s+gap
You'll see me in a few (on my Superhawk) and me two-up with my son on the silver CBR 1000F.
Hope you enjoy it.
Brian
edit to add: It is every bit as fun as it looks, and that is Darryl right at the end giving a "Thumbs Up".

Deal's Gap
In a few words...
..........That's why we ride..right there..
I know this is kind of crazy for a 58 yr. old clergyman from Canada looking out his office window at a snow-bank...I've got tears in my eyes..that's why I ride for those kinds of moments...perfect
Enjoy it

Killer pic sequence, Brian! Inspiring as hell but I must admit two things...the wipeout pics were a bummer (great in the vid, I just feel for the guys who went down) and I would be less of a man if I didn't state that I'd be waaaay sketch about leaning that far into a turn on a Goldwing. Brass ones on that guy. He looks like scraping and washing out is the last thing on his mind.
Nice job, bro!
Take care.

Those are some of the examples of why I do ride, and why I have grown to love Deal's Gap and so many of the folks I have met there.
Re: the crashes. None were injured beyond a few bumps and/or bruises.
Re: the Goldwing. While that is impressive, the talk-of-The-Gap when it comes to Goldwings is a guy named Rick, a.k.a. "Yellow Wolf". He rides a GL 1800 and has been known to embarass more than a few sport bikes.
I have ridden with him and am very suprised at what he can do on a 'Wing.
More than one sport bike rider has been irritated that they were caught and passed by a guy on a Goldwing.
As a side note: he recently did an "Iron Butt" thing of his own. Just over 1000 miles and EVERY MILE ridden doing back-and-forth runs on The Tail of the Dragon.
Yep, 1002 miles all at Deal's Gap, and all in less than 24 hours.
Deals Gap
I'm still pumped about that video, I spent about 6 years riding cruisers with wife on the back, kind of joined the herd for awhile..Made some serious sparks off folded floor boards and Valkyrie foot pegs and other bits..Before that I had ridden some sport touring, and home built cafe's..But even with all that I loved the curves..I'd be giggling to myself, and find myself getting lower on the bike and going faster...great stuff. I can't wait to get the VTR to the mountains..Southern British Columbia, Northern Cascades in Washington, Some stretches in Montana and Wyoming and down into Colorado..tell you what it may not be Deals Gap...but there are some of these with a perfect rythmn and just about no traffic...What a great thing to have the health, freedom and relative prosperity to be able to ride.. Love to meet some of you guys..
