Clutch problems

Clutch problems

Just bought bike to fix up after it hit the ditch. Did repairs.... starts, runs really well..... go to put it gear and it stalls instantly! Any ideas? I've bled the clutch a dozon times!

Check your sidestand switch. If it malfunctions then it will kill the engine immediately upon putting the bike in gear. I believe it can be bypassed by connecting the two terminals together using a piece of wire to test it out. Those switches get gunky quickly and to the best of my knowledge can be taken apart and cleaned if desired.

This is most likely the problem by the way you describe it.

Switch is cracked and falling off! I'll try and jump it... looks like a three terminal switch. Thanks

If you bypass it, let everyone who rides your bike know. We had a bike dropped on ride day because the side stand was down. Pretty funny for us watching, not so much for the owner. Just a lever broke, but nobody likes their bike dumped.
