Cherry Bomb Muffler

I did a search and didn't find anything. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to add to cherry bomb pipes to their SH. You know the pipes they are red and have been around forever. Since new cans are so expensive I was thinking of trying this mod. Here is a clip from you tube. I would add a nice looking end piece. I think it would make the SH sound awesome.

my bike came with jardine's on it when i bought it, but i did try that just to see what it sounded like, sounds friggin sweet, it really does, but they are real heavy, and would be pretty hard to make em look good on the bike.
if ya do it put up some pics, and a sound clip if ya can

I think there's a reason they go underneath the car...Over time I've found more sets of inexpensive slip ons on here, ebay, and craigslist than I can remember. But if you're really on a budget why not just do a bafflectomy-it's free and can be made to sound just as good as a set of aftermarket mufflers. The stock mufflers are much nicer looking than a set of cheap glasspacks, plus you'd still have to figure out what to do for midpipes.

Thanks Captain for making such an excellent point very simply stated. The bafflectomy is basically what you'll get in a "throaty" sounding aftermarket pipe anywho...right? With the stock pipes de-baffled, you don't necessarily have to re-jet either.

Well I am actually not cheap. I have a set of two brothers on right now and they are carbon. They came with the bike but they look like a dog present in the dog park so I painted them and I like them alot less now. So I can go drop 3-7 hundred dollars and get want I want. Not a smart thing in this economy or I could try something different. If any one has stock cans let me know what you want for them.

What about one of these. The dual tip turn side was or horizontal. Maybe the single tip. It's the same resonator crap that you pay the big bucks for.

Haha I remember those monzas with the ferrari look emblem-they used to put them on vettes in the 80's. Hey it's whatever you like-but unless you're a skilled welder/fabricator you're going to make most of the difference up of a proper set of slip ons when you pay someone to weld and bend you up a set of midpipes.

Also many proper motorcycle mufflers are universal and can be used in other applications. If you search around you can find a pair of mufflers that would be more at home on a your superhawk. Damaged is even better because they're cheap and you can shorten and polish, etc and make them look new for nothing more than the cost of your effort.

Sorry wasn't calling you cheap-there's nothing wrong with doing stuff on the cheap or simply saving money-I'm all about that and prefer doing it that way. Anyone can pay retail price for brand new stuff but what fun is that?

Lol what's it look like? I was going to say if you're bent on a cheap new car type muffler at least use one of those cheap fart cans the imports use. I'm sure it'll look better and at least it's probably light-isn't a glasspack kinda heavy?

I wonder what one of those ricer fart cans would sound like. Maybe flowmaster should get into bike mufflers. The flowmaster I had on my cavalier sounded wicked

Why bother with changing pipes if you're just looking for sound (and not gross weight reductions with CF pipes)? Extreme bafflectomy sounds pretty decent:

You can ignore the over-run popping, I had a leaking vacuum tube I have since found and replaced. I should probably replace all the vacuum lines at this point, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
