Can you fit a 190/55/17 on a stock back VTR wheel
Hey all just wondering.
Can you fit a 190/55/17 on a stock 2005 VTR 1000F rear wheel? The stock size is 180/55/17. If not, what's the widest size available for the 2005 VTR?

I jumped a little but i thought you had 190/50/17 up their a 190 55 17 is the best choice for a wide tire if you want to keep it turning. I don't see why you would be able to some rims run a little on the smaller side and thus making the profile even taller. the biggest thing is with the greater contact patch the greater gyroscopic forces you have to get moving stop and turn as well. thats the biggest downside I believe.
+1
I understand people have had success mounting 190's, but the 5.5 rim wasn't designed for them. It could cause cupping or even increase the chances of a blow out by putting stress on the bead. Plus, a 180 is just a better profile tire I think. Better turn in.

i read where a dunlop rep said the 211 ntec 190/55 was made to fit the older 600's 5.5" wheel.
i ran a set at the track this summer.

Dunlop likes to run that 190/60 on the 6" which looks huge.
the dunlop has a stiffer carcass so it doesn't have a 'growth' issue. i didn't have any rubbing problems with them. going to a 60 might though.
thats the only 190 i've put on... i got a good price on them ( take-offs )
but normally i'd stay with the 180. the hawk doesn't have the HP to warrant a 190.

Been running a bridgestone 190 on mine with no worries. It looks very cool. haven't had the bike long enough to wear it out yet. I am puting a set of 6 spoke 900/ f3 wheels on when they wear out with Dragons and a 180 back. I hear the bike will turn and transition better with the 180. If you use the 190, the 55 is the beter way to do it.
The 190 looks cool but it's all poser! The 180 is what the bike was built about and if you guys would do your suspension you would realize how sensitive it is to small changes. If you can ride the twisties on a 190 you are riding with a pack of Harleys.
