can somebody help me out with a measurement

i ride an 88 hawk gt, sort of a superhawk's father if you will. if anyone knows anything about hawks its that the tail sections are made from eggshells. so i was thinking of swapping a tail section from a superhawk onto the hawk.

so basically i need to know how long the tailsection is from the seat to tail light, how wide it is, and a guess at how tall it is with the seat cowl installed.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

Well, I can tell the seat is gonna give you problems. It clips into a lock thats part of the subframe. Unless you weld in the locking mechanism into the Hawk GT's subframe, you'll have to use the VTR's subframe.

this isn't going to be a bolt on mod, i plan on either making a lot of alterations to the stock one, or trying to make a vtr sub fit my frame.

the vtr cowl is going to need rotated a tad bit too, and i'm not sure how that will affect the seat angle. all things i'm looking into... the hawk seat is the same way, it clips into a lock mechanism as well.

i think the vtr cowl might be a tad wide too... hence the measurements needed.

thanks!

Yeah, its gonna be like twice as wide, I guess thats the "super" part they added. I can get you the measurements tomorrow, my SH doesnt live with me. Are you going to do a solo seat or carry a passenger? I ask because I have this cbr race tail that might fit better....

i'm actually waiting on another tail that is coming for the hawk but thanks for the offer. the superhawk tail idea was floating around after someone put an RC51 tail on a hawk. so i know its gonna be wide, but how much is the issue. the rc tail looked ok, i was hoping the same for the superhawk.

Ok,

31" from where seat meets tank to end of taillight
17" widest point of the tail. Right about where the strap for the pass. is
10" measuring vertical thickness at thickest point of the seat. This was taken straight up from the pass. peg to the top of the seat. I don't have a seat cowl
