Best Laptop Backpack? or carrier?

I am looking for some feed ideas from some of the corporate travelers that lug a laptop around while riding. Any ideas other than a backpack would be welcomed also.

Re: Best Laptop Backpack? or carrier?

my solution was a Ventura rack, Givi E250 universal mounting adapter, and a Givi E360 top case. Lockable, and fully removable.

Re: Best Laptop Backpack? or carrier?

ummmm....buy a goldwing? or heres what i do. buy a good quality back pack with 2 large pockets, remove passenger seat cowl and wrap with a towel to protect it. place cowl in front section of backpack, place laptop in second section of backpack. now, lift out your "luggage" hooks from under the seat and place bungee cords to secure backpack to seat. i do it all the time commuting to and from work as i hate to wear backpacks. hope this idea helps.

Alan- I researched your setup. Kinda like the ventrua rack. The Givi cases and boxes is alot more than what I was thinking. Thanks for the ventrua idea.

Phil- Too young for the Goldwing.

I am using a large L.L.Bean pack now but was wondering if someone is marketing a better fitting unit for riders. I never thought of mounting the pack under the seat as you are doing. I will try it.

I use my lap top bag, one arm through the shoulder strap. It will even stay center on my back through the twisties on my way home.

Re: Best Laptop Backpack? or carrier?

Givi makes their own racks to hold their lockable hard cases, but they look bad when the case is removed. That is why I chose to adapt the Ventura, because you can get the grab handle to put on when you take everything else off.
I had a full set of Givi luggage on my 2002 Kawasaki ZZR1200, a Ventura rack on my 1997 Buell S3, and just a tail rack on my 1999 Kawasaki ZRX110.
The set-up I have now for the VTR works great for me.
Have you seen the pictures of the Ventura mounted ?

here is another option.
http://www.revpack.com/motorcycle/pr.../SeatPack.html

I am not sure how well any tail bag, large enough to fit a laptop, would work on the VTR, because it has such a small back seat.

Yeah, I went to the website. Very concealed and tight. I also like how you can remove the rack assembly when the rack is not being used.

Look at Ogio's NYQUIST (Style 611120) or metro (Style 611105) both are pretty nice.

Depending on the size of the laptop it may fit in a corbin Beetle Bag.

http://www.corbin.com/honda/vtrbag.shtml

The look is not for everyone and they will add a bit of width to the bike.

Wouldn't recommend putting much in the way of non-crushables in the beetlbags. Though they've got a good bit of room, it's not exactly 'straight' like your average GIVI or BMW bag, in that solid rectangular objects don't fit too well. If it were a small laptop it might fit, but 15"+ or widescreen might cause problems...

I bought two bags from these guys, they are great to deal with....the bags are outstanding....the larger one the one I am showing you here, can carry my books (binders) laptop, etc....then it unzips from the base and becomes a backpack....I love it...and for the price, you can't beat it......I would and will buy from them again....

Re: Best Laptop Backpack? or carrier?

No issues as of yet....Now there are several layers of plastic/bag between the laptop and the magnets....also I use a small towel in the bottom for cusion before I put it in.....and or normally my books would go in first then the towel then the laptop....never really thought about the magnets, glad I did it that way now...lol....

Thanks for all the info. My local dealer is letting me borrow this backpack for the week:

http://www.rapid-transit.com/rt/0700.htm

RPG Model.

It is a do all backpack. This company did a great job of making a great padded laptop compartment that centers the CPU on your back. The rest of the bag is a little big. It fits me really well but a smaller guy the XL size might be an issue. I have had it since Saturday.

I am kinda leaning towards trying a Tail bag or tank bag???? I dont know?

Since the parts guy is letting me try these bags out I am going to take advantage of the oppurtunity.

Thanks again.

Re: Best Laptop Backpack? or carrier?

Yeah, I have a back pack specifically for my HP laptop that came with the laptop, it is nice and all, I just don't like to ride with a back pack if I can help it...that is why the tank bag is so nice....
