Barber Pics
The pictures from my track day last weekend at Barber are in. I’m not nearly as pleased with them this time as past track days.
http://www.dviantimage.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=2 7
Click on Barber, then on Saturday Novice.
Pictures I’m in:
32-39
133-136
238-241
331-339
397 to the right of the photo
488-489
567-568
734-738
859-860
My form in the early photos is crappy because the track was wet and I was slipping. The middle ones were on the Triumph (blue), and the last ones weren’t bad on the Hawk.
Just thought you guys might enjoy seeing a Hawk on the track.

It's a very technical track. Very sophisticated from a riders perspective. it takes a lot of riding skill, throttle control, and shifting properly to master the track. If you are trying to hone your skills for racing, this would be the track to test yourself on. If you are a weekend rider there to have fun, the technical nature takes away (or more like frustrates) the day's riding. I was grumbling at myself for missing turns and apexes all day!
That said, any day on the track is better than not, and I DID have a lot of fun. I'm in novice, by the way, but moving to Intermediate. The instructors said my times at Barber were ok for Int level. I was running low 150s on the hawk. not sure on the Triumph because the lap timer wasn't positioned right to get readings.
My personal favorite so far is Road Atlanta. I'm going to CMP in November, and next year I'm hoping to get up to VIR for a day.

Oh, by the way....the track was MUCH easier to ride on the hawk than my Triumph because it didn't require nearly as much shifting. I was in 2nd for one turn, but generally 3 and 4 most everywhere else.

What company do you ride with? I've been riding with Sportbike Track Time, and pleased with them, but they don't do VIR. I'm thinking of trying NESBA next year since they do VIR and Atlanta.

Ive only done 3 track days so far, but theyve all been with NESBA. Overall i am very pleased with them. the most important thing to rember is that if you want some help on the tract ispeack up. a lot of people complaon about the control riders not helping them, but then they say they never asked....

similar at STT, but the guys are always reminding people of that too, so it's their own faults, huh.
I was looking at the map of VIR Patriot. That's a short course, huh? Is the south one any better? Seems like Patriot may be a bit "small", huh?
Looks like NESBA dates in the spring don't line up for me.

yeah patriot is only like 1 mile long. theres only one real straight and that doesnt last long, and add in 130' of elevation change and youve got a real work out! i was done at the end of the day and just about passed out after dinner. couldnt even do the last session. heres a vid

Duh! you're right. 2009. But if thats any indication, it may be summer before i get there. CMP doesn't really have elevation chabges, but sounds like its a faster teack and longer too.
