Apex risers on

My newly acquired Apex 4" riser clip-ons are now installed (along with a set of Spider grips; the D3 Drivens looked good but are not as comfy as the Spiders so I switched back).

First impression: nicely machined, very sturdy, good range of adjustment. Anodized balck with a nice, consistent finish.
Weight: I weighed the assembly an it comes in at 501 g (heavier than I thought/hoped but they are quite robust.....)

The final setting is not quite the same as what the Helis were (slightly more turned in and angled downwards).

I went for a ride and surprisingly, the change to the riding experience was positive and noticeable. It seemed as though I was getting better feedback and better connected with what the front end was doing, which in turn boosted my confidence. Now, it must be said that the Spiders are thinner than the D3s were so that likely helped the connection (for my smallish hands).

I did not put the internal weights back in (use bar end mirrors and have no real need for them). The vibration level was the same or slightly less.

Anyhow, I am quite happy with the end result

Thanks for the report. I've been thinking about the 3" Apex risers. How much fairing trimming did you have to do? And assuming you had to get new brake and throttle cables, what did you go with? (Or maybe you already had done both.)

No fairing trimming required and stock throttle cables (lines are all braded steel). The bars do not hit anywhere. AS for pics, at some point.......

"At some point"!!!

Want to compare them to my Tommasellis, so when u eventually do post pics, include a tape measure/ruler in pics from various pertinent angles & views...

I had Helibars for years but have been more happy with the Tommasellis since 07. Also very robust & well finished.

Forgot to add, had to cut about 1.25" off the ends (making them the same length as the Helis) as the throttle cables would have otherwise been too short (are on the outer adjustment limit as it is, something the larger HRC throttle tube doesn't help.....)
