Another new guy!

Hey

I just joined the forum a few days ago. I also just bought my Superhawk, I haven't even picked it up yet! Damn work got in the way. lol. I've been looking around the site, it looks great, very informative. Hopefully some of you guys are near Knoxville, TN so we can ride together. I'm always looking for more people to ride with.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Randman....oil is the black slimey stuff right??? My tires are normally the round kind. I have had the ones that are flat on the bottom but I don't think that they handle as well.....Lol

Ahhh smart@$$es ..... I think I may have found a home!

FLO2......What are the mods that I just have to do?
I'd like to add some high mounts, I'll be making a seat that I can clip a small backrest in for when the wifey wants to ride and of course I'll add a better airfilter. As soon as I find out the bikes quirks I'm sure I'll add more.

I can't wait to pick it up on saturday!!!

Well... If you like smart asses you've come to the right place... We thrive here...

You might want to hold of on the air filter... The VTR is picky on those... It usually makes tuning more difficult with no real gains unless you go all the way and open up both ends, so do that at the same time as pipes...

Mods/maintenance that need doing is the CCT's and R/R that tends to go poof at inopportune moments...

Other than that, front forks are a bit soft unless you are very light, and the brakes are a bit insensitive... New springs/valves and calipers from one of the CBR's is a good receipt... And not very expensive either... Rear shock is slightly more responsive than a 2*4".... but not much...

The OEM headlight isn't very good compared to newer bikes... A relay harness is an inexpensive way to see the road...

I can go on... I'm not done with my bike by a long shot...

If it still has stock front brake pads, get some EBC HH pads. Big improvement for not much cash.

Aside from oil and tires, if you need any advise on how to you've come to the right forum.

Thanks for the advise. Now I have a new question. I know what cct stands for but what does R/R mean?

Welcome

CCT = cam chain tensioner
R/R = regulator rectifier

There is a ton on the forum about both, just search!

Forks and rear shock are 2 weak points, so that may be a good place to start, but not required...RC

Nice looking scooter! Welcome here to an informative site. Look at all the info you got already w/o asking a bunch of questions. I rode mine for one season before really doing anything. I just had Greg do my forks and I'm doing brakes on the front (calipers, MC and SS lines). Just in time for 8" of snow here today. Anyway welcome...

Sure does. I particularly like the saddle bags b/c they are semi hard bags. They are much nicer than the soft bags that I have already.

I got to pick it up today! I rode it from Chattanooga to Knoxville (100 miles). As soon as I got home I gassed up and went riding some more.
So far I love it. Can't wait to log more miles!

Welcome...very nice bike. Looks like mine except you have the undertail and seat cowl.

If ya find you're gonna set the cowl aside and not have any use for it, let me know how much ya want for it. What kind of undertail is that?

As already stated there's a ton of info here and if ya don't know ask.
