Hell man, Gold Wing jokes just come with the territory. And the only thing more AARP decadent than a Gold Wing is a Gold Wing with a travel trailer! Just kiddin'. But there are three things i've promised myself I won't do before I turn 65;
1) Take up golf
2) Pay for sex
3) Buy a Gold Wing.
OK. I really am just kiddin'. Anybody who has ridden a Gold Wing knows it's a cool bike and quicker than you could imagine until you actually ride one.. My best riding buddy is 6 years younger than me, has a garage full of collectable sportbikes. We can't get him to come out on anything but his Gold Wing.

BTW, Doug's an old guy but weighs in soaking wet at like 150# or something.
Remember, Doug, it's not the bike, it's the rider. And there is ALWAYS someone faster than you out there. I thought I was quick running in NESBA Advanced until some dude with a completely stock VTR passed me on the outside, full lean, knee a'scrapin, with the rear of the bike all over the place. He just rode around the bike's shortcomings. Helluva rider that guy was!

Yes the VTR was made for peeps 160 - 170 range. Thats why there is RaceTech & Ohlins!

guy on a Valkyrie pulls into the parking lot at work most mornings right before I leave. Think he has V&H pipes on it. Beautiful roar as he does his 70 mph rip to the far end of the lot.

I've been 23 twice. Better post fast b4 it's 23.5.
My son will be half my age soon, but I can't figure out when. Now we both have rebuilt collarbones.

It sure seemd like I was riding fast and I sure passed a lot of modern i4s on the inside and the outside. The thing was like riding on rails! 156 MPH on the front straight at THill! Working on corner speed once I'm back on it.

Just remember don't put your hands down when you fall...instead use your deltoids to break your fall and your collar bones will thank you

Both of our busted clavicles involve direct shoulder impacts. Mine included 4 ribs.
He has a video from last Saturday. The take off was steep, the landing was not. Went over the bars and landed on his shoulder from about 8 ft. in the air. Stupid kids. Think they're invincible. I would NEVER do anything like that!

Hell, every sportbike is a better machine for lighter riders than those over 190. When is the last time you saw a 225 lb. guy win a MotoGP or WSB race? OK. I'm well into middle age. I'm 5'9" and 148 lbs. of solid muscle. I couldn't win a MotoGP race if my life depended on it. But if I weighed 200+ lbs. I'd buy a Gold Wing and tour for a year or two before I died of a heart attack.
