Adventure rider

So every so often I go picture looking over on the ADV forum. There are some amazing pictures of some stellar trips. This is one a guy and his girl did over the continental divide in the rockies.

Not sportbiking but pretty cool nonetheless.

Yep - it's fun. I just spent a week in Costa Rica on an XR250R Tornado with 3 friends. We didn't "rough" it too much, but was still fun.

As you can imagine, the one thing that jumps out to me is the concept on nothing/no one around you. You can get off the bike and just stand there.

My daily ride is Brooklyn-Queens-Manhattan, so you can imagine the polar opposite.

The western US, east of the Sierra Nevada mountains is vastly immense and very lightly populated. Many opportunities for adventure.

Has anyone read Ghost Rider, by Neil Peart (drummer for Rush). He lost his daughter in an automobile accident and his wife to despair, not long after. He couldn't be around his house any longer and didn't know what to do with himself, so he got on his BMW and left, with no plan to return. The story is about his daily rides and having a few shots of MacAllen at the end of the day as he learns to reinvent his life.

Highly recommended reading, if you have not read it!

That is the kind of retirement trip I'd like to take. Just ride as long as ya want and keep going. Awesome video!
