90% of Harley / Cruiser riders have beards - why?

Seriously, when I'm on the VTR or in the car in cager mode - whenever I pass a Cruiser going the other way, the guys nearly always have a goatee or a full beard..why is this? (Heck - even some of the women cruiser riders almost qualify for the same status!).

So, what makes a cruiser dude need to grow the facial hair? Any ideas?

I have a Harley and a beard, if it could be called that, I am too lazy to shave. There are other things that I would rather be doing. I love my Harley - they are fun. I can be a DB and fit in, it is great.

I have a beard but no Harley, though I rode with some yesterday, it was nice I didn't have to worry about keeping up

I have a beard, and I don't have a Harley. But I rode one once.

However, my wife doesn't have a beard, and she's never ridden a Harley. So maybe you have something there. And she's from Canada too.

When I was 17-22 I had a full beard 'cause I looked about 14 or 15 without one. The beard made me look older. That was a few decades ago and looking older no longer appeals to me.

It used to be that all Harley riders had tattoos. Now EVERYONE, (even women) have tattoos. There's no limit to what people will do to be a conforming rebel.

The beard is to make sure they aren't mistaken for a female.

IDK, sounds like stereotyping to me. I am 41 yrs old, and have had every thing from a mustache to a full beard to a goat T, to a Foo-Man- Chu.
I ride everything (except Harleys) VTR1000, CBR900RR trackbike, Honda Shadow, Yamaha SRX600....and the list goes on.........
It has nothing to due with motorcycles. it is personal preference in facial hair. Not everyone who has tats rides a Harley either.. Just sayin.

It does seem like an awful lot of energy spent trying to grow a beard and then covering it up with one of those really cool skull bandana/face masks and **** helmet!!

with an open face helmet, or no helmet, a beard offers some protection against bugs, rain, wind, sun.

I kinda have a Harley. S&S motor in a custom frame. Trans is an actual Harley piece. It's not done yet, I've been busy. I have a beard except when I shave it off. It keeps coming back. Wife has no Harley or any other bike and she keeps her beard hidden, she's no poser!

I've never ridden a HD, but I know what HD stands for....Hundred Dollars every time they ride it or take it to the dealer

If I had money to burn I'd buy a nice Duc cuz you don't have to be a poser to ride a Duc!

A long mustache almost makes them like whales filter feeding on bugs.

Don't count on it. I've seen guys ride Ducatis up to the Sunday morning biker breakfast spot we go to almost every week, step off, then stand by their bike in their full leathers waiting for people to come up and admire it. And they have bigger chicken strips than I do.
