I ended up getting forced into a ride today and when we left it was about 2:30...anyway we ended up riding to Helen, GA...stayed way longer than i wanted to, and didnt end up heading back until about 6:30....it was dark and the temp dropped FAST. by the time i got home i was shaking violently and had a severe headache and was throwing up...i think i had the beginnings of hypothermia...i took a hot shower and laid in bed under the comforter for about an hour and felt good as new.....all i had was my jeans, boots and a t shirt w/ my leather alpinestars jacked at sp-1 gloves...it was ******* horrible........PLAN AHEAD for the slow bastards you ride with! temp tonight supposed to be 28 degrees..... had to have been mid 30's on the way home.

The cold front that these guys are talking about went east of Texas. It was 78 here and beautiful and I have such a terrible cold I can hardly answer the phones. Hopefully I'll be better next week. Some of the guys that have had this are still wearing it after three weeks.

I bought my first non-perf leather jacket last year on special - it doesn't have to be the lastest **** all it's got to do is get me down the road. I'm going to get a set of non-perf jeans from Santa. (I have some control over this) Even on sale the damn things are still $200.

The other thing that I've noticed is that different manufacturers have different levels of perf. I've got a set of Frank Thomas that are still good at 50F with some underwear. My FirstGear is like standing in front of a screen door.

With the non-perf I want to be comfortable in the mid 40's to low 40's. The only thing I'm not sure of is the gloves. I bought a set of winter gloves and they make the bike feel like I driving with my hands in catcher's mitts.

I don't EVER get on my bikes without a REAL leather jacket and pants, boots, gloves.......never. I don't care if it's 90 out. I can always open zippers and vents when it's hot, zip'em up when it's cold. I really can't imagine riding with jeans and Tshirts and tennies....a fools game at best.

61 degrees when I left the house this morning. I had to wear a long sleeve shirt under my leather jacket!

Absolutely, positively, right on! I go out in my jeans but I always wear a set of Fox racing knee/shin guards under them. You look like you're in street clothes but you're armored up real good. It's crash tested - even the cops were impressed.
