Trackdays

since I was posting pics, I decided to add some highlights from my first 2 trackdays. As with my other thread, my buddy Doug was with me. He didn't ride at the first one since it was his first season on a bike. he was there to help me out and see what it was like. the next year he was out there with me as you'll see.

Autobahn North Course Joliet, IL 07 (I still had the hindle ti pipes that belong on an RC-51)

Autobahn North Course Joliet, IL 08 (with my new Leo Vince alum's)

I'm behind the ST3. That guy was next to us in the pits. He had modded that ducati from the cams on back, and he was fast. we were very evenly matched. I couldn't catch him, but he couldn't pull away. all day.

here I come

Here's Doug on the SV. I didn't pay for his pics. Hence the watermark.

Here's Doug telling me what place I'm in.

Here's me telling him what place he's in.

That's it for now. My trackday this year is Sept 5th. now that I know how, I'll post my pics up right away.

Cool pics, Swordfish. Do you own all your own gear? That's the only thing holding me back from doing a track day.

yes but if you look at the first trackday I have different gear on than in the 2nd. for the first one, I could only afford the pants and boots. that's my street jacket I'm wearing. had the connecting zipper made to fit the pants. pants were $60 on ebay. and those crappy *** Nitro vega boots were $25 on ebay. don't get them they suck. following year I found a Frank Thomas suit for $200, and Astar SMX1 boots for $120 off ebay. the only thing I have that's actually new are my gloves, and even those were bought on ebay. deals deals deals. that's the key. check craigslist too.

It looks like you are close enough to come to NJ Motorsports park. I was there this week on the lightning track with Absolute Cycle and their promotion was free leater rentals and schools to 1st time trackday participants. Check out their site (absolutecycle.com). I want to do the thunderbolt track again this year, it was better suited to the hawk...

If you want to buy gear, check out kneedraggers.com. They have a "store" that is mostly just the front of their wherehouse in in Wilimgton, DE. If you show up, you can try on stuff to find your size. Everytime someone I know has gone to the store in person, they find a deal. I got a $800 set of leathers (internet price) for $500. The guy said something about no one my size buys racing suits and they had that one was an design. A friend of mine got a leather 2 piece suit for like $200!!
