Sad day
Sad day
Well it was a sad day when I finally came to grips with the fact that I don't need 2 bikes. I needed to sell one. After buying a "should have been salvage titled" 4800 mile fixer upper upper SH 4 years ago and swapping out all plastics, sub frame, front fairing stay, wind shield and turn signals i would just about be able to get what I paid for it. There it was looking pristine. Excuse me, NEW! I handed over the keys to the new owner who made it to the end of the driveway and spilled. He hit the bakes too hard on some loose gravel and went down. Guess what he needs? New turn signals, left side fairing, and the fairing stay might be a bit tweeked. That made it an even sadder day.
I feel your pain.
I sold my beautiful black, one-of-a-kind, modded for canyon racing (by the Honda tech I bought it from) '78 CX500 to one of my adult auto students in 1986. I received many compliments while riding that bike for 5 years and over 50,000 miles.
Two weeks later he comes to class and tells me that some woman ran a red light and totaled the bike. Fortunately, he got only scrapes and bruises.
Even though I was done with it, I loved that bike.
At least the damage to your former VTR is cosmetic, and it will ride again. But it sucks that it happened right in front of your eyes.
