I have a family history of colon cancer both grandfathers had it. My only symptom is that I have been anemic for the past 2 years and would ocasionaly have stomach pain like gas pains in the abdomen.

I am looking at a minimum 8 weeks out for just the surgery alone, chemo therapy will take more time. I don't know the extent yet hopefully it has not progressed beyond the colon wall.

Take care everyone I will keep in touch.

Wow, this has to hit hard. Sounds like you are dealing well with it, though. You can see you've got a lot of support here, so if you get down about it check in.

All the best to you.

Hey everyone, thanks for the positive thoughts.
Today I said a temporary good bye to my co workers. What a great group of people they got together and took up a collection for me and my family.

During my time off I plan on finishing my new engine build, I completed the head porting the other day and now all that I need to do is get the heads resurfaced and new valve seats cut. then start bolting it all back together again. I cant wait. I should be 30+ pounds lighter and have 30 more HP when I can get to ride the hawk again.

I will keep everyone posted as to my standing.

Remember to keep the rubber side down.

Keep us updated on your progress, and let us know when you're ready to get back in the saddle!

Chemo sounds frightening.

I've known several people who've done chemo, and it varies in the discomfort, but the result is often full recovery with life getting completely back to normal. Some don't even lose all their hair.

And don't be expecting Forum members to shave their heads in support. The last time my head was shaved was at Boot Camp in 1966 at NTC on Rosecrans in San Diego.

Sorry for not posting any new news. There is not very much to report, I am getting stronger day by day but my energy level drops off fast with some exercise (walking around). Today I go in to get my staples removed , while I am there I will ask about the chemo as well as get a referal into a diet specialist.
Thanks for all the positive thoughts and wishes, I will post up when I get a chemo update.

I'm not sure how I missed this thread completely.

I'm glad to hear of your progress. Chemo seems like the haredest part for people. It sounds like you are on the road to recovery.

Keep the chin up. enjoy your time off and engine project!

Best of luck to you, brother.

It sounds like you're doing everything right zman, great to hear you've planned an engine build, that's what it's all about, planning to LIVE. You're an example for the rest of us to live by should any of us face this. Thanks for sharing your experience.
