Really crummy news.
I was recently diagnosed with Colon Cancer. I will be going in for surgery on the 21st to have the entire colon removed and hopefully never have a chance of this happening again. The doctors said that they would leave me enough to be able to ****, however it would be very frequent and not so solid.
I have a family history of colon cancer both grandfathers had it. My only symptom is that I have been anemic for the past 2 years and would ocasionaly have stomach pain like gas pains in the abdomen.
I am looking at a minimum 8 weeks out for just the surgery alone, chemo therapy will take more time. I don't know the extent yet hopefully it has not progressed beyond the colon wall.
Take care everyone I will keep in touch.

Don't start digging yet, I know of many people that had cancer and they all survived.
Cancer is a scary word, but don't mean you are done for.
You will enjoy your life better after, they all do, like a second chance.
Best of luck

Very sorry to hear of your illness.
Don't ever succumb to the feeling that you have lost control over your life. What you do and how you feel about your situation will play a very big part in your recovery.
Great strides have been made recently in the ablation and post-operative treatment of cancer.
Keep your spirits up and you'll be riding again soon.

A coworker in my office went through the same situation about two years back. A few weeks after his operation he was back. Today he is just as active as he ever was - and excepting the possible lapse in judment (he bought a Harley) you would never know he had been sick.
Good luck to you Zman, we'll all be pulling for you

Not the kind of news any of us wants to hear. Hope you recover well and get back to doing the things you love soon.
Thanks for the reminder... I need to schedule that colonoscopy my doctor has been sending me letters for.

Holy **** dude! That sucks. I guess the silver lining if any is that unlike 100 years ago, there's people getting by on a daily basis with the same condition.
I hope they have some options for you that don't mean a huge negative impact on day-to-day things other than being on pot a few times a day.

Keep a positive attitude and you will come out of this in great shape. My wife worked as a nurse for a cancer center for several years. Todays cancer treatments have come along way in the past few years. Good luck!
