Pocket bike.... who's got one? (+race vids)

My coworker was saying his son wants one. I'm not sure where the hell you could ride it in the San Diego suburbs without getting busted, (or neighbors throwing rocks at you) but damn it looks like fun. I don't think he's aware of what these really are, and that some of them can do 60+ mph with a 49cc motor. Maybe I'll take one on the next canyon ride and see if I can keep up with the back of the pack. I'm impressed how much technology these have for the price and the weight they can handle. They even have 4-stroke versions now.

Here's a kid that actually fits on it. Stunting of course!

I want one! I should build a trailer for my superhawk and tow one up to Palomar mountain for a ride...

I've thought about getting one. Looks like more fun the go carting to me.

I tried one of these before, a co worker had one that he bought "for his son" yah right!

In all honesty it was the scarriest thing that I have ever ridden. It was fine while at speed and cornering. Um cornering clearance was limited because of my size 12 feet.

While breaking it headshook soooooooo bad. Because of the short wheelbase it was unstable as hell. Breaking hard was an exercise in fighting to keep the front wheel straight, or limit its movement from side to side. This model topped out at on 35MPH.

Also with the lack of suspension a parking lot seems to be the best place for these to run/race. Bumps hurt!

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have one, but I would ride in full gear.

I've had a few and they're fun. Don't let the false advertising fool ya though. They don't go 50 mph, maybe 50 kph. I have a couple pictures on my phone of my then 1 and a half year old daughter sitting on my last pocket bike before I sold it. I'll see if I can figure out how to get the pics from my phone to the computer and upload them here. I'll eventually get her one but not until she's closer to 10 years old and has plenty of 2 wheel experience cuz they can get going a bit quick and feel 10 times faster than you're actually going when you are on it. Now I wish I hadn't sold my last one cuz it even had a half fairing like the Hawk so it looked like a mini Hawk

Lol, nice! They are a bit of fun! For Xmas a few years ago, I bought my girlfriends 5yo son an electric "RC 51" from Honda, and put training wheels on it for him

He loves the thing, and we go riding around the block for a few laps every other weekend or so with me on the Hawk, and him along side on his RC. Neighbors think its a riot Its 18 volts, and I rewired things to bypass the limiter in it so it'll scoot along pretty good now. I can ride it, but not for long as my 6'3" frame really has to scrunch up to stay aboard.

Ahh, just realized I had a short clip of it up on Youtube

Not quite a pocket bike but a fun pit bike.

Dirt trim for my 1/2 mile back yard track.

Street trim for dragging knee at the go kart track.
