Pearl Harbor Day
How many people on the Forum know that today is Pearl Harbor Day?
I'm a motorcyclist, surfer and retired auto teacher with hair down to my shoulders, and I put our Flag out today in remembrance of the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
Too many forget our history, including Obama who to the best of my knowledge didn't acknowledge Pearl Harbor Day, 2009.
Every year on December 7 for 34 years I reminded my students of the reason to remember this date. It seems that as the years go by, many forget.
The LA Times had an article on Page 10 today about pieces of a Japanese mini sub that were recovered outside Pearl Harbor. The Orange County Register, on the other hand, had the "Feature Article" on Page 1 on the experiences of 3 OC residents who survived the attack (one is 95 years old), plus an additional article on another Vet who survived the attack, which happened on his 22nd birthday. Two of those survivors were on ships that were destroyed in the attack.
Please don't forget the sacrifices of the brave men and women of our Military and Civilian workers during WWII. They are your Fathers, Grandfathers and Great Grandfathers. They gave us the privilege to lead the lives we have today.

I remembered, but sadly I didn't hear a peep about it anywhere in the news. That's why I always wonder about the "remember 9/11" bumper stickers. I wonder what exactly that's supposed to mean when everyone's already forgotten December 7th... I suppose unless people were directly affected in a few years sadly they'll forget that too.

We here in Hawaii always remember December 7th. I spent the morning at Punchbowl (military cemetery of the Pacific) at my Dad's gravesite.
Though he may not have publicly mentioned it, I'm sure Obama remembered the significance of the day. He was born and educated in Hawaii.
