+1 use the freakin remote. Why torture yourself, get yourself all pissed off, get depressed, etc., listening to ******** who abide by lobbyists who have no connection whatsoever with doing what's right. When I see these pretender puppets, I push the button on them quicker than the speed of light.

I can't stand Obama. But I thought his speech was fine, even impressive. It was strong, uplifting, and surprisingly apolitical. What's he supposed to do? Cry on the podium? It's part of the president's job, to be the voice of the country in these types of situations.

If he has a dud speech, you'll label him a fool, if he has a popular one, you'll say he's self-aggrandizing. Can't win. At least give some credit to his speechwriter, and his teleprompter technician.

Walmart in NYC

NYC has fought tooth and nail to keep Walmart out. For the last few months Walmart has used a radio campaign to push its agenda.( I assume TV also but I wouldn't know as we are a cable free household).

Now it seems Michelle Obama thinks Walmart is the bee's knees with their healthy kids propaganda. Healthy is great and Walmart should be all over that.
But it seems someone at Walmart made a call to the White House looking for help getting into NYC. If Michelle likes Walmart, so should all of NYC i guess.

I guess it really doesn't matter. Teaching other languages in the US is a no no. The Education System doesn't do that good of job teaching even one language, and a lot of us on here are living proof of this, haha, so maybe it makes sense not to take on other languages.

The long term policy of eliminating other languages from their curriculum requirements is both stupid and arrogant, and is detrimental to all of us in the long run. Other industrial countries teach multiple languages and china is even teaching second languages to preschool age children because they're perceptive enough to realize that the very young suck up knowledge like sponges.

This kind of stupidity has resulted in our low position relative to other countries despite the fact that we pay much more for education.

Welcome to the forum panch, and remember that being "official" may not be that important. You might have noticed that we're unofficial..........the Unofficial Superhawk Forum, yet we seem to be doing alright.

I think that there has been some water muddied between what Ron Paul is, what libertarian means currently, and what republican means. I like Ron, but I dont think those who dont and some that do really understand what he is for.

I'd be more comfortable with Bush than Obama, and believe me it hurts to utter those words. At least he was more transparent whereas Obama is comfortable with saying what the masses want to hear but eventually does what his financial supporters require despite the differences.

Yeah, Bush's warrant-less wire taps were quite transparent. To one up Bush, Obama is prosecuting the whistle blower.
The evil ***** that Obama surrounded himself are on par with the previous admin.

I didn't know you guys had revived this thread but I'm more than pleased that it's back up. Obama has been an embarrassment to our nation since day one. Today was another in his stellar performance.

I Like RP - even like his son. He says what he believes and shoots it straight. And he's from Texas. All good with me.

The talk on the street this week here in Austin is that our Gov Perry is being encouraged to run for president following Bush's footsteps. He's led this state for several terms and has broad-reaching support among many groups. He's a slick suit and not intimidated by the media - almost masters it.

Some months back, while on a jog with his daughter's foo-foo dog they encounter a very hungry coyote. The Gov, who's a licensed carry pulls his 380 Auto and delivers the pest to God.

I'm not sure the country is ready for another round of Texans that will "hunt them down and kill them." But it sure beats the **** out of everything that we've had to put up with while Obama was at the helm.

He's a disgrace as a leader and I thought NOBODY could best Jimmie Carter. It will take years to neutralize his ineptitude.

It would be really tough to have this conversation here without people leaping to conclusions or name calling.

Today Netanyahu did to Obama, figuratively, what Jesse Jackson said he wanted to do to him almost 3 years ago, when he thought he was off mike.

Obama has been doing a "campaign" tour of the Midwest in his lushly outfitted $1.1 million bus... which was outfitted in the US, but the body, chassis and drive train (the basic bus) was built in Quebec, Canada.

I guess that's part of his economic recovery plan, which he says he will announce in September... after he gets back from his 10 day vacation at Martha's Vineyard.

Like he said just a few days ago, "Too many Americans are driving Kias and Hyundais, when they should be driving US made cars".

Yet another example of the "Campaigner-in-Chief's" do as I say, not as I do.

Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama,LLC.

Well, we could pick a car that is a better example of made elsewhere. What about the "american" cars that are made in MEX or CAN?

Very true. For years I was telling my students about how many Japanese cars were built in the US and how many "US" cars were built elsewhere. The Ford Courier (Mazda) and Chevy Luv (Isuzu) pickups of the '70s come to mind, along with the Dodge Colt (Mitsubishi). During that same time, Honda Goldwings were being built in Marysville, Ohio.

I was just pointing out that Obama is a hypocrite, standing up in front of American workers in their factories, and talking about jobs, after having driven there in a Canadian built bus.
