My puppy...
ate some chocolate covered raisins about 2hrs ago, and he's at the vet right now.
for those of you who have dogs, you know how bad chocolate is for dogs, and you should also know how bad raisins are too. So the combination cannot be great.
So just hoping that I'll find some "prayers" (? I'm not all that religious) but it doesn't hurt to have some hopes going out for the little guy.
He found a way to get into a cabinet that's a foot and a half taller than he is on his hind legs =/

Glad to hear You got him to the vet ASAP. I hope he's ok!
We had a similar incident happen a few years ago. Came home to a whole box of chocolates that had been on the dining room table devoured and our two dogs looking guilty. We rushed them both to the vet where they immediately induced vomiting... Mojo puked his breakfast and Chloe puked chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. With a bit of care and monitoring from the vet she ended up just fine.

im sure he'll be fine. dogs are surprisingly tough when it comes to eating random garbage and things especially any larger breeds. that being said ive faught my jack russell a few times when a piece of chocolate has hit the ground that he grabbed and ran off with and hes been fine and ive talked to a few people who have said their dogs have eaten entire easter bunnys and other such things without any issues. what kind of dog is he?

AFAIK Isn't that stuff corrosive and even in solution harmful to mucous membranes??!?

im sure he'll be fine. dogs are surprisingly tough when it comes to eating random garbage and things especially any larger breeds. that being said ive faught my jack russell a few times when a piece of chocolate has hit the ground that he grabbed and ran off with and hes been fine and ive talked to a few people who have said their dogs have eaten entire easter bunnys and other such things without any issues. what kind of dog is he?

I also heard that chocolate is very bad for dogs. But I had a black Chinese pug years ago that ate two entire Easter baskets full of chocolate eggs, foil wrappers and all, and she never had a problem. She is 15 years old now and down to one tooth that kind of hangs out sideways...

Sure it is at higher concentrations.. the stuff sold in stores is like 3% with the other 97% being water.

I believe it's a waste of money to take a dog to the vet, unless it ate about 5% of it's body weight in chocolate! My dog ate an entire pound of chocolate and I freaked. It does depend on the chocolate but I did some research and found that it takes a LOT of chocolate to have any effect. I'm glad your pup is ok.
Just glad mine wont go anywhere near the stuff, hope alls well with your little one.

Yes giving some HOOH (hydrogen peroxide) (a tablespoon or so for smaller dogs) is what the vet will tell you over the phone. The dog will puke up the contents of it's stomach within about 15 minutes. If you don't know when the dog ate the chocolate, then it might have already passed the stomach and HOOH won't help anymore.
A few years ago, my 6 pd maltipoo (it came with the wife) ate most of a (big) bag of M&Ms, and had also eaten her own crap, so we gave her HOOH and it didn't seem to work. I was holding her on my lap because she was acting weird, and then all of a sudden, she projectile vomited on me, more than should be able to come from a 6-pd dog. There is not much worse than having chocolate **** vomit on your face, neck, and down the inside of your shirt.
The dog's fine now. I, however, am scarred for life.
