Gel coat repair ?

Yeah, I know.. motorcycle forum + Gel coat question? WTF? Well, I put it in the "Everything else" category.

I come before you today with questions about gel coat repair. I have a 2005 boat with white gel coat on the top deck. The PO screwed buttons to the deck to secure the POS two piece cover. Nah, really nice cover.. I just HATE those buttons, and it leaks where the pieces come together.

I got a new cover, and have removed the buttons in the deck. I am not left with 44 screw holes to fill. I ordered a gel coat repair kit and it will be here today. I am nervous about doing it myself. I know I can, just nervous.

Any tips? Other than "take your time, sont rush"..

No seriously do you care if you can still sorta see the outline of the holes after it's done? Meaning if the color doesn't quite match up 100 percent. I used to detail boats and I'd see pro's do repairs and sometimes they looked a little "yellow" if you looked close. That'd be my only concern. Otherwise once you sand and wetsand and buff them down they should look great.

I hope it wont be TOO noticeable. Since the Boat is only 4 years old, and the holes are small. But to answer... Yes, It would bother me. I figure if I F*** it up then I will take it somewhere. I just need to save the cash if I can.
