We have a winner.....
It was developed in the 1976, with a very limited budget, with Mr. (or Herr...?) Piech, who was the R&D director at that time (46 years later he bought Ducati, so, at the end, he gave Audi its bike).
This bike (they claim) is functioning and looks like the frame is coming from a BMW 90s bought 2nd hand for the project.
It was based on the 4 cyl 1.1L of the Audi 50 (now Vw "Polo") but with 60 Hp instead of 50.
Developed "hush-hush" from the parent company, it was brought up again at the Audi Museum following the recent Ducati merge.

As I was reading, I was getting to Audi.
So a German company owns an Italian motorcycle, and the same but different German company owns a major portion of a Japanes motorcycle. Interesting.
