that is probably what year they were bought for or reflect when they were purchased and he just doesn't know otherwise so doesn't want to say in case he's wrong. I didn't even know the superhawk had a model year 1997! Anyway, they should fit all years without a problem. The price is still reasonable too but you never know where ebay will go. good luck.
