Back up for sale here only, for now. I bought a V-strom and I'm having too much fun with it. This bike just isn't getting ridden often enough, so I'd like to pass the grin factory off to someone more into doing what this bike is meant for.

SOLD

Yeah, the previous owner switched from Remus high mounts to the Yosh's to keep from burning the heels of his boots. I wasn't brave enough to try to remove the sticker(s).

Mileage is 29,887 currently. We'll probably keep riding it once in a while until it sells though.

I am wondering what type of riding (short of motocross) the Hawk won't do.

It's not that it won't do what I want, just that 99% of the riding I do is 2-up and I'd like to be able to make longer 2-up trips without feeling like I need a crackerpracter at the end. I still want the ability to corner and accelerate like the 'hawk. I love that aspect of it.

I would strongly suggest you find another member willing to trade you the stock tank, fairing, seat, wheels chin guard for your substandard parts (that our obviously dragging the resale price way way down), so that you can sell it easily that way. I hear yellow is a very popular color for the used bikes - they almost sell themselves if they are yellow since everyone knows how fast they are!. Yes, I happen to have yellow and if you insisted, I could be talked into trading with you, I suppose. I am that kind of guy and you are a fellow lister in need after all...........

seriously, you could dismember it, put it back to stock parts and come out way ahead in total.

That thought certainly occurred to me. There's a lot of money in accessories in this bike. I could probably milk them for a little more if I found a lower mile bike and transferred the parts over too. It's actually a little hard to even ride the bike to its full potential knowing the (even approximate) cost of all those parts. Although, maybe that's a good thing.

Oh yeah... just to add some other enticements... Think what this bike might look like with a split seat and undertail exhaust from an RR series bike. Maybe also a braced or single-sided swingarm... Just sayin'

Just think, you could have all those goodies at a greatly discounted price and there happens to be a slightly used motorcycle underneath.

I don't. The previous owner was slightly taller than I am (I'm 6'2"). He told me that he scooted back to adjust his position while on a ride and bumped it, loosening it up. It apparently fell off and got lost somewhere in the AZ desert. It does look good with one. I could probably dig up a picture.

Alright, I'm just not riding this bike as much as I should. It's really fun, but I bought a V-strom that I'm having too much fun with these days.

As far as I know the company in the U.S. that was selling those does not import them anymore. In fact, I can't even find the Carbotech website. I think they were imported from somewhere in Australia.

my bike is in the shop getting an insurance estimate ... this could put an interesting wrinkle in how/if i decide to put my bike back together. we'll see
what the claim numbers come out to.... would love to have a larger tank'd hawk !!!

my legs in a cast for the next 5 weeks so i can't drive / ride
but at least i have a winter project.

I've got the perfect winter project for you. Something I keep forgetting to put in ads. I bought brand new Honda CCT's for the bike and just haven't taken the time to put them in. I'm pretty easy on it and it never gave me any indication that anything was going on, but I thought I'd replace them to be sure they're good. I'll probably take on the project as the weather cools here in AZ unless someone grabs it before then.

the quote came in pretty low... so it looks like i'll be repairing my bike. i will need some plastic so if you decide to sell the fairing( lower & upper ). seat cowl & tank i'd be very interested. fender & hugger i would also think about.

hopefully the insurance co doesn't total it .... save me a bunch of paperwork.

I didn't realize I had a reply to this post, sschuyten. The CCT's will go with the bike. I keep meaning to put them in, but I have three other bikes that I ride more so it has been low on the priority list.

Here are some new pictures (I got brave with the Remus stickers!):

And I still don't want to part it out. If you want parts of it, buy it, take what you want and pass the rest on.
