I bought a $30 chinese special off fleabay. It didn't fit so i had to drill it. Evidently fitting it tightly put a little stress on it and it eventually started to crack.
The good thing is that I learned w/o paying a lot of moola that i don't like the double-bubble type shield for reasons relating to both function and form.
I discovered that I like the shape of the oem shield best, however mine was scratched a little, so I painted the inside. Took about 20 minutes to remove it, wipe it clean with mineral spirits, hung it up and sprayed the inside with clear adhesion promoter and then red. The good thing is that the clear outer gives it a deep gloss look and the paint is impervious to scratching because it's on the inside and therefore not subjected to bugs or other debris that could scratch the paint.
If you have yours or can buy a clear shield, it's an easy mod.
