FS: RC51 race fairings w/brackets for Superhawk

For Sale:

1 set of Sharkskinz racing fairings for RC51, upper with windscreen, mirrors and single headlight, lower with Dzus fasteners, and solo tail section. These were installed on a 1998 Superhawk using what looks like a set of Graves aluminum fairing brackets (front and sides). The upper section has an oval headlight installed in the center. It also has some small spiderweb cracks across the numberplate. The right mirror is cracked. The lower has some damage that has been repaired. All decals have been removed. Would like to sell as a whole.

Over $1200 list price. Will sell for $500 plus shipping. Will deliver free within 100 miles of 28625.

Thanx
Chris Mitchell

Hi Chris,

nice stuff I wish I could buy it but my wallet is a bit tapped at the moment. I have a question relating to the swingarm on your bike as I see from the rear shot that it has a brace. I was wondring if you could give a bit of detail (or preferably share a pic). I am looking at fitting a brace off a CBR900 on my VTR and am looking for a pic and comments. cheers

I purchased the bike in the condition as seen. It looks like a previous owner welded on a CBR929 brace. I can only assume that because it has a 929 front end. I can take pictures if you like. It handles very well.

Thanx
Chris

That bike has a heavily modified engine also, if I remember correctly.

Did you buy that bike off of ebay? How does the bike ride and how is the power. Just curious because I had a bid on it at one point.

I did. The bike is very torque-y. It's had the cams swapped out, with pretty much open exhaust and well tuned carbs. It turns a bit quick for my taste but I should get used to it soon. May I ask why you didn't get it? I think I got a pretty good deal, but I'm always open for more info.

It's getting a makeover at the moment. All the RC51 fairings are gone and I'm working up the brackets to mount a 08-GSXR 1k headlight and windscreen, Freestyle Ingenuity risers (for the 929 triples) and Pro Taper handlebars. I've got a 91 Ducati 851 for the track stuff, this one will be a nice backroad carver with decent ergonomics.

Why do you think a 91 851 is a better track weapon than a superhawk?

I didn't get it because I was too chicken to pull the trigger! The bike looked like a steal...and believe me I want a dedicated track bike...but I wasn't sure if it was built correctly. I only based that on the fact I do not know the owner or mechanic that worked on the bike. I am happy somebody is enjoying this hawk and from how it sounds, my reservations got the best of me. Have fun on it and happy modding. Keep us updated on the "clean up".
