clutch?

How is the clutch?

I seem to recall something about 45 quarter mile passes at one sitting on this bike. Something tells me the bike has had a tough life (all those q-miles, race mods such as the tether kill sw, etc). Tell me something that will make me feel better about the prospect for its future longevity...

he never launched it when he went to the track. Just left the line like you're leaving from a stop light, no burning of the clutch. and he had to have the tether to run there. I know denmah and the bike is in awesome condition. I wish it was mine

new tires, just pulled the carbs apart and cleaned out the slides, bowls, lines, jets etc. valve adjustment was just done, i just checked out the clutch from the 45 drag strip passes and there is nothing wrong with it, checked the basket, throw out, springs, friction disks, etc etc. its going to get an oil change before its sold, it has brand new tires installed.

it has 19k miles and it starts up and purrs like a dream. i ride it every single day.

i dont appreciate you making people uptight about buying my bike, like its some kind of junker.

no offense meant

I didn't mean to imply your bike has anything wrong with it. Quite the contrary, I am in the market for a SH myself, and wanted to know more about yours.

Unfortunately I am on a limited bike budget, and your price is higher than I currently have available to buy. I was contemplating trying to find a way to come up with the extra cash, but I want to make sure of what I’d be getting myself into first. Hence the question.

I had been looking for something within my budget, say a ’98 with some cosmetic damage. Something otherwise clean and well taken care of, just recently dropped, etc. A bike I could spend mostly time (and little $) fixing to ride now, and later as funds permit I could add the mods I want.

Your bike however already has the mods that I would do (shock, fork springs and Braided lines), and more. So that got me thinking, if I could come with the cash now (not eating for the foreseeable future, etc) , I could get it all up front with your bike. Before I go too far down that road though, if the bike would need any sort of mechanical repairs anytime soon, that would blow this idea out of the water.

If I’m gonna think seriously about this though, I need to feel good about the bike, so I just wanted to clear that up first. I remembered about the many Q-mile runs, and I recall someone said something about the clutch, so I wanted to hear about it from you. The tether thing also had me thinking of the bike as some sort of track renegade, but now I understand it was required to be fit to do those runs.

i learned that afterwards when i went to the dragstrip a second time and the guy said man you spin that tire pretty good sometimes, something to that effect.

That's a deal with all those mods...

Penske shock $575
Carbon Fiber fenders $300
New Dunlop 208's $225
Not having to do any of the installation yourself... Priceless

that's actually probably undershooting the cost of the shock and carbon fiber bits. it is a deal though. if I could sell mine for his I'd do it.

other bike FS

I asked you about the other one before, you said it actually belonged to a friend, but that he had changed his mind about selling. Is the other one now up for grabs again? Tell me about that one...

Yeah, after about 12 hours of screen time, 2006 could be mistaken for 2008... and I thought it was a little steep for a 10-year old bike with 19k.

That's what I get for using the search function! Hey, it was the first post after I searched!

So - now that the thread is revived - does anyone know where to get CF case covers/protectors???

Sorry, bro. I don't think I've ever seen them sold in the US. You can try some UK shops though. I'd start with a Google search on "Firestorm covers".

Wow, gorgeous stuff!

Between the cost and the shipping from Oz, probably worth more than my entire bike, though!

Thanks for lookin' for me!
