Wanted: Front Rod Bearing

Anyone have one? Willing to ship very quickly. Overnight or second day air. I will of course cover all costs. Just one half is all I need. Brown in color. Been trying to get one of these for weeks. I get nothing but delays and broken promises and am getting pretty fed up.

I am sure some shop in MSP has one.

Where did you order yours from? Also you could try www.ronayers.com call the 800 number and ask them to ship it overnight.

I have been waiting almost three weeks for one from a nearby Honda dealer. They say it will still be another week or more. BikeBandit has it on back order with no ETA. I'll give Ron Ayers a call.

I have confirmed that this part is non-existant anywhere in this country. Ron Ayers aint got it but gave me the number of a place in Cali, Motoworld, that claims to have it. Called them. Their computer says thay have it. They don't. Called another dealer near here to do a national search of Honda dealers. The only place they came up with was Motoworld as well.

If anyone plans on needing rod bearings for their rebuild or similar project I'd plan on at least a month for your parts.

Oh yeah, I checked ebay too. There is a rear one but not a front. They are different.

Google the number on the bearing (if there is one) and see if you get a hit. Not the Honda part number, the actual number stamped onto the bearing.

It never ceases to amaze me how you can often find replacement bearings of the same size that are better and name brand often for cheaper.

I already knew about that one. It's for the rear rod.

Just an update if anyone cares:

After two weeks of telling me it would be here in a day or two the dealer finally told me their warehouse would have it on the 10th which means I could pick it up at the dealer about Wednesday or Thursday the 14th.

I called on Wednesday and the warehouse still hadn't seen it and they now expect it to arrive there the 14th. Which means it probably wouldn't ship to the dealer until Monday the 17th.

I called again on the 14th and still nobody knows their head from their ***!

I then went to the dealer and requested that when the warehouse does finally get it to have them overnight it to my house at my expense. But then they said that would cost $50. $50 bucks to ship one little bushing! I decided against that. They said they will "try" to add it to someone elses next day shipment to the dealer.

I am still waiting with no real idea of when it will be here. Middle of this week is the most recent guess. I have a dyno spot reserved this weekend and a track day the following week. My bike should have been running weeks ago!

I'd be impressed if you show me one that would work.

I have done this on several occasions, try iy sometime, Google the number stamped on the bearing and sometimes you need to also enter the manufacturer. Honda does not make bearings, they sourse them. It does not always work, but it is worth a try. Does anyone happen to know the bearing number - we can give it a try?

I did try googleing the numbers stamped on the bearing. But some of them are gibberish. Sybmols that I cannot type on a keyboard. I tried every combination while ommiting these sysbols and still get nothing. And I can barely read the number and letters that are there. So they may not be correct.

By the way. Now they don't plan on it coming through customs untill the 25th. Why do they bother telling me any dates? Why not just say "I don't know?" Cause it is pretty obvious that is the truth.

You could try calling shops north of the border since the part fits two bikes sold in Canada. (VTR1000F and XL1000V)

Yep. That has been discussed. It wont work.

Bike has been running since Monday with the old bearing in. I called the dealer that day and they said it would be another two or three weeks! I couldn't wait that long with Dyno and track days approaching. Decided to throw it together. The wear on it wasn't anything to worry about anyway, just wanted her all freshened up since I was in there.

Then guess what. Those ******* **** benders called on Wednesday and said it was ready for me to pick up! Yes, only two days later.

I have been considering doing some cam and port work this or next winter. So I may install the new bearing then.

After 11.5:1 JE's and 1/2 inch off the radius of the flywheel it dyno'd 117/72 today. I'm pretty happy with the HP but I thought torque would be slightly higher. I also threw on a 520 chain at 15/43 (I was at 16/43). This thing is a whole new animal. A total blast to ride.

Very loud on the dyno. I didn't think it was that loud. You can never really tell with all the usual wind noise, plus I wear ear plugs most of the time.
