F/S 2005 Superhawk

Well my truck took a crap and I need to replace or rebuild engine. So I need the funds.

Asking 3000 obo

Appox 1300 miles

The bike has a Salvage title. The previous laid the bike down within 450 miles after purchasing new, the bike sat until I purchased at the beginning of the year it now has approx 1300 mile.

The front forks USD forks from an R6, they give the bike a great look and improved handling. I used a rear rim from a CBR900rr (direct fit) to match the R6 front rim. I still have the stock rims. Carbon fiber slip-on exhaust cans. The clutch cover has been repaired, and does not leak. It is not very noticeable when looking at it, in the picture if you can see it. New cover from bike bandit is 200 and on ebay is 100-150. Since it does not leak it fell to the bottom of my priority list. It is missing the marker light, it is the little light above the headlight, 30 from bike bandit. Fairings have also been repaired and repainted, I will point out all repairs to you.

Here's a link to my craigslist ad with pictures, PM me with any questions.

I wish you well with the sale but have to say this is a terrible place to try to sell a Superhawk. Everyone here has one or more already. Parts, now that's a different story.

Thanks, I figure most have one already. Just trying to max my efforts in the sale. I really do not want to part this out, but if it comes to that..I really need the truck rather then the bike.

I'm sure I'm sounding a bit like a broken record here, but there are a lot more people on this forum than just members. There are tons of "lurkers" who have yet to own a VTR and are perhaps checking the classifieds to find one. When I was looking for my VFR I looked and found mine on VFRD. When I was looking for my next 1st and second VTR, I came here. It may not have the audience of Craigslist or eBay... but why not post it here too?

This a question, I have been asking myself- As a Superhawk gathering of the flock, to ride the "Tail of the Dragon" would be UNforgettable..
All those Twin rolling thru, around the mountains....

And to address -the selling of your 2005. Pretty bike, Yet IMHO, the salvage title is a hard pitch... Repaired fairings-Harder the pitch in the sale... Yet -Their are those of us , That infect our friends -with the desires to own a S-hawk.. saying all of this-your price is a little high.. If you chose to be Negotiable... I can think of some buyers..
and I am in the state...

Thank you and I appreciate your thoughts. I think everybody says this when selling a bike..I really do not want to sell it...I am not done with with modds and this is by far has been the funnest bike I've modded. Loads of potential!! I am going to give it a bit and then try funding my truck with some different options.

As the price goes I searched craigslist in the local area and did KBB, mine is the cheapest, latest year, and lowest mileage. The next in line is a 98 with 10K for 3200 I believe. (Might be a option for your friends) The other 3 s-hawks are above 4. I understand the salvage titles are scary and the repaired fairings are not ideal. This is why I placed OBO at the end of my price.

Most people do not really understand what a salvage title on a bike means. A insurance claim was made and they deemed it to expensive to fix..they total it out..plain and simple like a car..however unlike cars there is no motorcycle body shops or repair places. The costs come from dealer for new everything..fairings which is the most in all cases..even the little faring brackets if bent are replaced new. It all adds up. It does not take much to total out a bike after you factor in deprecation and the cost of dealer brought fairings, I believe it is 70% of value before it gets total..but dont quote me. My point is a salvage title does not mean the bike was in three pieces and is held together with duck tape. If you go a auto auction website that sells bikes..you'll see bikes that look in new condition with salvage title..Ridesafely.com is one in case anybody wants to check it out. It also against the law to sell a bike that is not fixable..they get "destruction titles" or "junk titles" these can only be sold as parts and can never be registered at the DMV again.

In any case if you have friends that might be interested have them contact me and I'll give them the low down on the bike and explain everything I did, whats fixed and whats replaced, what still damaged.. show them pictures of the bike when I got it. I treat people the way I would like to get treated when purchasing..they will know what they are buying and then they can make a offer. I am not out to get one over on anybody..just need to fix a truck and if it does not sell hopefully my next post will be in the modd section

Agreed. I have a motorcycle dismantle shop and buy bikes weekly from the auctions, tow yards, private party, etc.. I've had some salvages that come through so nice you kinda scratch your head and wonder how it even got that brand (like my wifes 2003 SV650)... on the ther hand, I've had wads of aluminum and plastic come through with clear titles. A vehicle history report would be best, but I doubt they can tell the story of every bike. It all comes down to seeing it in person and going over it with a fine toothed comb, clear or salvage title.
