What is te Loudest exhaust I can get?

I currently have yoshi (SP?) pipes on it.
I would love to go waay louder, not looking for a ticket...
Thanks,
Ken

Alpar 07-29-2008 09:16 PM

D&D probably makes the loudest cans.... at least for the superhawk

Anto 07-29-2008 11:30 PM

without a ticket, hah. i was gonna say get a muffler shop to weld you two polished straight pipes upward with a resonator inline if you wanted. nice and loud

Hammer7205 07-30-2008 03:55 AM

I know my Two Bros. mid mounts are some loud MotherF__kers!!!

codfish124 07-30-2008 04:52 AM

i like my 2bros i just did a full debaffle on my stock cans and thats loud

Cleveland 07-30-2008 05:00 AM

Straight pipes like a Harley... To get louder you'd have to bell the end of the pipe like a Trumpet... lol...

i say two bros with bafflectomy... loud.. makes car alarms chirp alot when im on the gas

td301 08-01-2008 09:10 AM

IMO loud pipes suck. Loud does not mean fast.

PUSHrod 08-01-2008 09:37 AM

Every year at Daytona bike week I watch as slug slow Harleys with open pipes get tickets while the stocker BMWs, Guzzis, and STs go ripping past 20 and 30 over the speed limit. I love the sound of open pipes on the throttle, I'll applaud you as you go by, but LEOs pound down the nail that sticks up.

Don't forget to re-jet when you change the flow characteristics of your motor, elsewise that slug of a Sportster is going to catch and pass you.

:hijack:

Noted.

To me it doesn't have anything to do with fast. Think of it like music. To me, my bike is playing a tune as I ride, and I like to listen to it with the volume turned up. That's all.

*UN-HIJACK*

My D&D's are pretty damn loud. They are 6 to 7 years old, and I guess that might make them a little louder than new ones?

Planning on it. The kit from D&D is only like $40 bucks. Not sure what the diff between Street and Race is though....

??? don't know. you can buy any wrap though it's all about the same or use the loose fill 'silent sport'. just be sure to use the wide head rivots. the normal ones always leak on me.

Hmmmm. Wide head rivets. Wouldn't have even thought of that. Thanks!

Agreed, i have microns on mine and they are loud enough but still with in reason. when you go with "the loudest pipes i can get" all you do is piss people off. i would go with the exhaust that has the best combo of performance and sound. my opinion.

My scorpians are pretty dang loud. But i'd have to agree with that tyga maggot, that would be F*^!ing loud! You could also fit a nice pipe like Racefit makes, even though they don't make one specifically for a hawk, let alone a V-twin.

J.J. 08-01-2008 01:34 PM

D&D's are the loudest I've heard, by far. Opt for "race" rather than "street".

Jardines are also pretty loud, Two Bros slightly less so. I've never heard Micron or Scorpions.

ridingrules 08-11-2008 09:37 PM

I had yoshi's on my first hawk and devil high-mounts on the current hawk. I think the devils are louder, but I haven't had the bike with the yoshi's since 2003. I know the devils on the superhawk are louder than the D&D on my warrior.

Galaxieman 08-11-2008 09:50 PM

Open headers, 'nuff said.

Hi,
I bought a 1998 VTR this year. Love it . Hit 225kph yesterday. WOW!

My Vance and Hines pipes are LOUD Too loud for this almost 50 year old. But the sound is HOTROD kool.

Hotbrakes 08-12-2008 08:35 AM

Yoshi's are quiet pipes. Chop them! Cut about a third off and rivet back together. Very nice sound then, but not power robbing loud. Reaper runs chopped Yoshi's, I have chopped 2Bros. The Yoshi's sound much better now. I like loud pipes but the 2Bros are almost annoying now.

andy9743 08-12-2008 08:57 AM

i chopped my remus...love the look and the sound.

captainchaos 08-13-2008 06:12 PM

D&D's are the loudest of the popular aftermarket pipes as is. Open header or open midpipes sounds like a stock car but WTF our bikes only make 100hp or so...funny for a short time but its really annoying and unnecessary. I took all the packing out of a set of undertail wolf pipes and they were by far the loudest most amazing exhaust I've ever heard. Kind of a more musical, more tuned open pipe sound. Wish I could share it

Quick story on D&D:
Their customer service is excellent. I had a cracked weld on mine and called D&D to find out what sort of metal it was so that I could weld it back together. He told me it was mild steel, but that it was a warranty issue and he would replace it with a new one if I boxed it up and mailed it to him. They gave me a new pipe, no receipt and no questions asked....

I will have to comment on this .... Im sorry but thats just an oxymoron...Not to mention
who's L00K'in for a ticket :)

I think there lookin for me i swear there out to get me...... :wtf1:

steve.g 08-18-2008 07:15 PM

I've got a pair of Wileyco racing mufflers from Italy that are pretty loud. In the process of switching to Jardine Hi mounts, with race cores..... Should be interesting!

SkullHeadNoPants 09-03-2008 03:12 PM

My Hawk came to me with a set of high mount Jardine RT-Ones. In all honesty, sounds louder than some choppers I've ridden. Granted, I don't know how many miles are on the pipes so they probably just need repacking but it sounds great!!! Caution....On long rides I'll have to do ear plugs if I want to retain any hearing. You might want to go a bit more reasonable than what I have.

Hawkguy Pierce 09-03-2008 03:55 PM

Loud pipes suck but if you have to....

It's all in the baffle. Get some fiberglass insulation and lightly repack the baffle. You can play with it to get the amount of noise you want. I still think a twin that's too loud sounds stupid (and you'll never get the jetting right), but hey, if the neighbors don't mind...

I too recommend cutting your pipes to make them louder. My friends RC has shortened Sato's and they are as loud as you would ever want!

Here's a vid of us dyno dragging. You can barely hear my Jardine hi-mounts(which are loud) compaired to his. Sorry about the wifes extreme enthusiasm.

sassage 09-03-2008 08:39 PM

D&D's, as said, are loud but have a good sound to them. that's what I'd recommend.

Looks like a "Works" pipe from the days when race teams custom made everything.

rbrais 09-04-2008 09:39 AM

Unfortunately in CT (and probably everywhere else) pretty much any aftermarket pipe COULD get you a ticket, as they all exceed the max. Most cops don't bother you as long as you aren't riding like and @ss hole.

kroeninga 09-10-2008 11:55 AM

Two brothers High mounts

I have two brothers carbon fiber high mounts and my bike is the loudest one in town.. My friends can hear me from over a mile away when I get on it.. Yet i still have gotten no tickets.. TWO brothers or Akrapovic-Either way you cant go wrong

crash06 09-10-2008 12:10 PM

I have high mount carbon devils on mine and its louder then any of the other twin sport bikes in my area.

Ratty 09-22-2008 04:02 PM

My other bike (NT650) has had a load of different cans over the years, straight through, home made z-flows, microns, stubbys but I didn't like the sound of any.

In the end I realised it was because none sounded deep enough, in desperation I fitted huge diameter car exhaust which sounds amasing, not uber loud (no louder than a loud race can) but really really deep.

superchicken_on_roids 09-25-2008 09:38 PM

i completely gutted my 2bro's highmounts and quickly found i needed to hunt down my jet kit and put bigger jets in. but it is by far the loudest hawk i have ever heard.. i drive by people on the road and they roll their windows up..at an idle it sounds like a muscle car.
