Water Pump Drain Tube Leak

Hello everyone! Im new to the forums. Also new to the Superhawk. I havent ridden since I was 14 and that was only dirt bikes and quads. I rode a street bike for the very first time about 3 months ago.

My wife LOVES riding. So for Xmas I bought her a 2001 Superhawk. A buddy of mine was low on funds so he offered it to me for $500! No way in hell I was going to turn that down! At any rate.

Only issue with it is a minor coolant leak, well that and the gas guage doesnt work but Im not concerned with that at the moment. When we first got it it leaked minimally while running. Recently it started coming out a lot more and while its off. So I took the oil filter cover off and noticed the leak was coming from the water pump drain tube.

I searched Google, found this site, then found this thread https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...in-hose-23476/

That thread is a couple years old and there was only 3 responses so I was wondering if any of you awesome sons(or daughters) o' bitches(!) could add to it?

Have any of you been through this? How much can I expect to pay for the fix? Anyone currently residing in Las Vegas know of any trustworthy bike shops?(we also have a '93 YZR 600 that needs some work)

Really really want to get back on the road! I had no idea how addictive riding is! I thank you in advance for ANY help you can offer! :)

Common issue, figure about 2~2.5 hours at your local going rate.. $65-85 per hour is not unknown.. labor, oil, coolant, side cover gasket, the rebuild with individual parts is a bit tricky to get right unless you know what your doing and have the required tools.

Look on line at someplace like ronayers.com for parts prices... your local dealer will be 10-50% higher in price.

Tell the group where your at, you may get lucky and find a local forum member that can help you with the repair.

Parts
11394-MBT-000 GASKET, R. COVER$15.99
96100-62003-00 BEARING (6200) $7.15
91201-148-003 OIL SEAL (12X22X5) $2.50
9217-MAL-300 SEAL, MECHANICAL$31.63
This one may or may not be needed, will not know till it's inspected
19210-MBB-000 IMPELLER, WATER PUMP$39.79
only needed if the o ring is damaged
19226-MBB-000 GASKET$3.56

Thank you! Info is going to be very helpful. Just downloaded the manual. Maybe Ill try the fix myself. Im fairly decent wrenching on cars and Id like to learn all I can about bikes.
