Hey gang, I searched for a thread but couldn't find any regarding Trip Odometer.
Nothing electrical is amiss on my bike. There is this one flaw regarding the odometer. About 2-3 times during the tank the odometer will reset after I turn the bike off and start it again after a few hours or a few days.
I know it is a non-essential item, but seeings how I've got everything else running well, I have to noodle with this. All of the connections a secure and seem to be free of foul. Anybody know what might be causing this??

Could it be the button itself? Does it ever change between A and B on it's own?

No that isnt the case, but a good observation. In fact I have to really lean on the thing to get it from A to B. I'll be mindful of the suggestion though thanks.

Any other thoughts??!!

I don't know if this is going to help you, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

A mate of mine had a similar problem after fitting an alarm/immobliser. The problem was the immobliser, when the bike was in an immoblised state all the power was cut from the speedo and rev counter pod. Apparently the trip odometer needs a small power supply when the engine is turned off to run it's memory.

This wont help but if it makes you feel any better I once had a tripmeter that would also randomly reset itself to zero when I turned the bike off...do not know why...

Thanks for the ideas. I dont have an alarm, BUT I did install some grip heaters which may be the culprit. Thanks for the idea!

Does the clock lose time also?
I had that happen with my new 1990 Trooper. Dealer setup had forgotten to transfer a fuse. Check all fuses.

It does in fact loose time.... Checking fuses at sun up, thanks for the tip!

If your clock is also resetting, you definitely had an electrical supply issue. I hate to say it but that's one sign of R/R failure. Check it out too.
