Revving while idling
My son and I bought an abandoned 1999 Superhawk late last summer and I just got it running and idling this spring. I haven't worked on cycle engines before so this site helped me immensely. We removed and cleaned the carbs, I balanced the carbs and set the fuel screw out 2.5 turns. The bike runs good, fast as hell, but it will rev up and down when idling. We are thinking vacuum leak but should I go back and re-balance the carbs? Any other ideas would be welcome. The bike has exhaust slipons, I forget the brand.

Check the plastic choke fittings .
Also make sure the carbs are seated correctly in the intake rubbers. Spray some soapy water around any Vacuuam fitting to make sure there are no leaks. Also check for leaks in the exhaust . Make sure that your TPS is hooked up. |
